gryffindos said: I’ve been wondering this a lot too! I am in 0 ways an expert and I’ve only started looking into it very recently, but I guess it can be brought down to: you hear them speaking, you know it’s (supposed?) to be English or whichever language, you just don’t know what they said. And you get the feeling that if you were to be left alone to really think about what had just been said to you you could probably get it. Again, I’m speaking only from experience, I could be way off the mark for you

okay. like i get that.. its like for some reason extra bad when i’m ordering food or asking someone about a product??? like it can be a really quiet place and they’re talking and asking me questions and i know they’re talking but i just don’t hear anything? or i hear like a faint jumble like nothing is distinct or maybe one word i can hear and i have to keep asking them to repeat stuff
and its like i could probably guess what they’re saying if i thought about it? like that’s the problem when i take “hearing tests” online like i can guess after thinking about it what a lot of the stuff that is said (also cause they just give you a list of words so you know what to listen for anyways)
i think i had to take special hearing tests as a kid but i guess i always passed cause i never had to go any further than that

531. Muggleborns bringing in fantasy books so the purebloods can read them and laugh at how ridiculous some muggle authors' ideas of magic are.

409. A muggleborn brings in a copy of The Philosopher's Stone. McGonagall is incredibly pleased because she'd recognize Hermione Granger's writing anywhere.
