It’s Monday, so it’s time for Casual Trek! This week we’re looking at some episodes of Star Trek which the BBC saw fit to ban back in the day.
Miri has a strangely Earth-like world overrun by feral children and adults dying of some mysterious Space Mange. A bunch of the cast and crew enlist their children to help play these droogs in training and there’s a disturbing “she looks 14 but is actually 300” thing which I normally only expect to encounter in Fire Emblem games.
Then we get some incredible nonsense in Plato’s Stepchildren, where godlike beings get Kirk and Spock (and later Uhura and Chapel) to dance about like idiots, play horsey, kiss and possibly kill each other in some bizarre improv exercises. How troubling is all of this going to be?
We also talk about Alien Romulus, how Miles misses stupid drunk British lads breaking things, Dr Who (of course), inferred child death and my poor attempts to resist making a Dragonball Z reference.
