Portrait Sketch 11-19-25
A quick portrait from @adorkastock‘s expressions deck! I didn't quite get the proportions right for the model, but I think it turned out well regardless.

Oh dear, I hope you recover swiftly!
In the meantime, this is excellent timing: spotted a mantis for the first time since I moved to my current state!
I did gently relocate it out of the parking lot and into a nearby tree. No idea if that was the right course of action or not, it did seem a bit stressed after, but it was an industrial parking lot that gets a lot of foot and truck traffic and I didn’t want the poor thing to get squashed. ^_^;
I think it was perfectly fine to move it! I'm sure it didn't like being handled, but a tree is much safer. Godspeed lil dude...
@grumpyoldsnake Thank you, you're very sweet!! and hhsdhgfkds THIS GOT SILLIER I was like what's the opposite of swoopy and round...

The sphinx locks are honestly one of my favorites of your designs! I love the slightly unsettling proportions it’s so interesting to look at
lizarr7
What the heck no, I LOVE sphynx locks. Idk if there's just something wrong with me, and I'm sorry that they don't make me uncomfortable, but I find them incredibly anatomically pleasing for some reason. Your body horror locks are the ones that make me uncomfortable lol. I think sphynx locks and GIANT thicc worm locks with huge toothy mouths and tiny eyes too close to their noses are my two favorite forms.
puppypunk1993
also did not realize they could be considered Uncomfortable in any way, they're like if bodies could be more beautiful
Thanks y’all! Nothing wrong if you like them haha. They don’t have to be unsettling in a horror-y way. Just different. The reactions from human characters in my stories range from ‘well that’s different, can’t help but eyeball in fascination’ to legitimately weirded out by all the uncanny valley shapeshifting, so the fact that I’m getting that range out of actual people is most excellent. Â
A sassy Jeih!sphinx, for your time.Â
So after reading your doodle comics I’ve been poking around trying to get my hands on some of the actual Duck Comics; I’ve been curious about the source of your inspiration, and wanting to read some of the stories you reference! I’ve successfully found compilations of older works for sale, so that’s good and I’m enjoying them. :) Your recent ‘thank you’ fanart has me wondering, though; how do you go about getting ahold of / reading more recent or current comics?
it’s difficult. Disney really are sleeping on their English speaking audience! You can as you say get hold of compilations of the old works (some lovely new hardbacks from Fantagraphics!) but in terms of new publications like Topolino I pretty much entirely rely upon the generosity of the online community! I really do wish there was an online archive... a legal one that gives money to the actual artists, I mean. Sadly it’s one of those ‘find what you can’ situations! Tumblr is a very kind place in this regard, it’s surprising what you can find!
Speaking of patience tier, do you have any general guidelines for sketch requests?
Hmm, yeah, i haven’t laid any out yet--so, thanks for giving me an excuse to think about it XD
Generally, it’s like the sketch commissions I’ve offered before: one character rendered in a looser, softer style, with your choice of what they’re up to. Obviously I’m always happy to draw Undertale, but if you’d like me to draw a character from another fandom or an OC, I’ll just need a reference image of them. I won’t do anything NSFW, or excessively gory or anything like that--but a character in a nice pose or doing something simple is perfectly ok.
And, it’s up to you whether I do or not--but Undertale sketches are eligible to be posted here if you’d like everyone else to see what you asked for; just let me know when you send your request.
Hope that clarifies things for folks! ^^
