One group I got into last year and didn’t really say much about was Grumpy Animal. Although their music is up on your streaming services, I didn’t learn about them until their CDs went up on Idol Underworld because I am old-fashioned, and use the shop as much as a recommendation service as anything else.
Anyway, Grumpy Animal! They're a two-piece band unit that plays energetic rock music. Some of it is the usual stuff about life and love, other songs are oddly food-focused, given titles like Gura-Gura-Granola and Minna no Mango. But the one I keep coming back to is this one, Sakuranbo Bakudan (”Cherry Bomb”), which I only recently found the video for. It’s a perfect hit of short, sharp, sugary idol rock, remarkable for its brevity - it’s under 90 seconds, but feels properly complete, as if you’d detract from the song by lengthening it. And given that it’s that short, you should give it a listen.
