every time someone says they like river i judge SO HARD OKAY and basically start to evaluate every opinion they've told me

i really was never a fan of river song because moffat thrust her at us and was like LOOK MYSTERY GIRL U LIKE HER NOW NO TAKEBACKS and the whole 'knows the doctors whole past' thing is supposed to make her interesting but to me it just comes off like when someone else is privy to inside info and they keep snickering at you and going I KNOW SOMETHING YOU DONT KNOW HEH HEH SUCKER

and basically they pretend like shes this really gr8 strong female character but actually her entire being revolves around the doctor and everything he says and does

but the thing that REALLY REALLY bugs me is when she decides shes going to change time and not kill the doctor because she thinks she is in love with him (no, btw she isnt but i'm not even going to get into that rn) and they are standing together and he says basically "every thing that ever was will burn and suffer and die if you do this" and she goes "okay but i might be sad if you die so no"

like he literally tells her the entirety of being will suffer and blink out of existence because of this thing she's doing and she refuses to stop because she doesn't want to be sad about him dying her personal suffering at the loss of someone she is obsessively infatuated with will be greater than the combined pain and suffering of the entirety of being bleeding out of existence.
