Hey. Hey, hey hey, Takumi. Hold it. How in the world did you forget about one of the few things you're notably good at!? Something that you're good enough at to call specialisation in its own right??
It's one thing if you didn't keep it up since you were a kid, but this is not the case since you clearly display your use of this skill on the field. What's more, you have enough experience-memory with what your peers tell you about yourself that you know you have a reputation (for being 'too positive for your own good'), and people getting lost is so commonplace they know you would've pitched in a good few times.
Maybe you can chalk part of that up to self esteem, or other people not recognising your efforts when you do something. But seriously:
It's clear that, say, Tsubasa is aware of her abilities right from the very start, that on top of her memories with her grandpa. You on the other hand, only recalled that you were good at something because a dream told you? And the only significant memories you recalled in the conversation with Tsubasa was the last day in the complex??
I don't know. Something smells fishier than a certain fish route.
I thought it was strange enough that Takumi apparently needed to be told why Karua panics at the sirens, when a huge defining moment in the memories was the promise- him offering to become her meat shield because of what happened to her father, due to a siren. But that could be easily handwaved as Takumi spacing out from the situation. This just takes the entire confectionary stand now- there's no way a 'normal person' has completely forgotten about something they're good at and capable of doing well, much less something that basically defines the core of a relationship with someone.
Never mind that Karua implies that she wants to change the promise with Takumi- to change their relationship dynamic, to make it that she isn't the one 'being rescued' all the time. Something that Takumi all but completely forgets about until the relevant dream (he could have underestimated her because of misogyny, but... really?)
Point: I feel as though for some reason - probably relating to Karua, and/or something unknown to Takumi that happened (to him) in the complex - that he is packing some retrograde amnesia. And we happen to know of a way that memories can be suppressed, too.
