I looked at the plan and could only think about how much ink it would take. Markers are expensive. I was daunted by the possibility of killing and replacing my go-to colors, so I decided to do the color digitally.

However, 1) markers are meant to be used. If they die making this deck, they die with honor. 2) The coloring is one of my favorite parts of drawing! Line work is a good time, too, and I can't line digitally for shit, which is why even when I color digital I line traditional. Digital coloring, while possible and not without its merits, will never be as satisfying or enjoyable to me. Replacing such a fun part of the process with something more economical, creating a flatter look, definitely hindered my enjoyment and therefore my motivation to continue.

For the past year (just realized it's been that long) I've been working on a mermaid picrew! My philosophy is to make the dress up game I want to see in the world, so I am going for as many color options as I can handle (it is a little tedious) and lots of variety, such as some extra fishy characteristics.

Next step is tails! I have a few generic options, but I want to do some inspired by real fish. Only going to be the hip area, but still!

Procrastinating work by adding more items to my Picrew!

I finished the saltwater fish tails, so it's just freshwater to go, and then I can work on accessories and weapons. Plus tentacle bangs and hair! I didn't want to find an octopus for every tail color I have, and you get more tentacles with hair anyway.
