born and raised by her mother and grandmother in chicago her father was hardly ever talked about when he was it was under the breathe of her grandmother who had anything but pleasant things to say about him. her childhood was normal no life changing woes just lots of love and support. she doesn’t hate her father for not being around, she just wishes she at least knew his name. her mother did tend to be a serial dater who was never really good at keeping a guy around long enough to have a toothbrush in the bathroom.

school was like her home life, normal and for the most part uneventful. she was on the debate team and while she wasn’t popular she was known. junior year of high school she did find herself in a relationship one that did last well into her going to college. almost as soon as the thoughts of marriage passed from his lips though she panicked and ended things. her long term relationship coming to an end didn’t hinder her quest to getting her degree.

sometime after graduating she found herself employed by hollis alexander as his personal assistant. some days it’s easy to forget that’s what she is. she really does enjoy her job, planning, organizing, and communicating with people is what she excels at. 

quick facts ; her grandmother died when she was in college and her mother moved to the other side of the country to be with a guy she met online, so after she graduated with her degree she moved back into the same row house in gold coast that she grew up in. she talks to her mom at almost exactly six pm every sunday. it bothers her mom more than it bothers her that imogen still shows no sign of settling down or any real desire to even date. has a lot of records in her living room and a stack of books by her bedside table in her bedroom. is allergic to jasmine and rabbits. 

There are a few good memories buried deep down that he can vaguely remember of the time before the tragedy. In one night, Noah’s world was turned upside down. The night his parents died in a car accident. It isn’t something he likes to talk about and is one of the many topics he keeps private and to himself. Wasn’t all bad, his childhood. There were good times with his grandad.

Age four through fourteen Noah spent under the care of his grandfather. For the most part, life was fine. Stricter than what his parents would have been, in Noah’s opinion, which ignited disagreements. Disagreements turned into fights.  A rebellious stage had blossomed. Noah started veering towards the wrong crowed, though deep down he knew what he was doing was stupid. There was no solace with these delinquents. Didn’t keep him from going. There was no comfort, but he could at least feel numb. There was little time to be dumb and young. Before he could wander too far down the wrong path, another heartbreaking misfortune happen.

Noah had to grow up fast. At the age of thirteen Noah started seeing early signs of Dementia in his grandfather. Year and a half later, his grandfather was deemed unfit to be a guardian and was placed in an old folks’ home where he could be taken care of properly. With no other viable options for a guardian, Noah found himself bouncing from house to house in the foster system. A part of his life that he really hasn’t opened up to anyone about.

As the last known family member, he did his best to keep close to his grandfather and look after him, even when times grew difficult. It was this very relationship that kept him grounded enough accomplish all he had. There were mad slip ups on the way, ones he doesn’t like to admit to, but in the end, he got himself emancipated, graduated from high school to go on to a technical collage for business while bartending to support himself. It wasn’t a glamorous life, but he did it all himself.

Adeline is from a family of mages who are known for doing less-than-toward things.

basically Calver isn’t her birth name, it’s Braight, and the Braight name is fraught with implications of necromancy and other such things.

They did not allow their children to attend school at all and just taught them magical works at home. They socialized outside of the family zero percent.

Adeline learned a lot of what she did under the table and suffered some beatings for it when her studies were found out.

She fled the Braight home on her 18th Birthday, as she was the least legally culpable that way and moved to Chicago to start her path towards becoming a Doctor.

She attended University nearby; it was her first time at any sort of institute of higher learning (or learning at all) and she had to fudge her records a bit to get in. NOTE: she didn’t use magic, as she’s actually intelligent enough to learn and grasp the material and had spent a lot of time in her life learning on her own while her family refused them that opportunity.

She loved Chicago enough as the face of her freedom that she hung around from then on.

She’s almost 40 and most of her personality was developed in socialization AFTER she turned 18, so sometimes she’s still a bit off as emotional development goes.

she has a fiance (Wanted Connection Pending) whom she met during her 30s doing volunteer work in the city and it took him two years to get her to actually date him even though she liked him, if that’s any indication.

She has a small network of friends, both human and mage, but (most of) her human friends don’t know she’s a mage, and her mage friends don’t know she’s a Braight.

She doesn’t practice magic as regularly as some, and for a while refused to use any at all (which led to explosions of power and magical outbursts.) She has since found a balance in practicing magic and keeping herself far enough away from it that she doesn’t fall into the habits of her family and their evil witchy ways.

Becoming a Doctor was her way of helping people to balance out the wrong her family has and had done over the course of her life. Sort of non-magical penance.

She is terrified of her family coming to find her and blowing up her life in more ways than one.

I have a couple of Wanted Connections incoming on the main for those, both antagonistic and sympathetic so look out for that.

Wow that was long-winded. Below are some baseline wanted connections/plots to start us all off.

Co-Workers - She works as a Doctor at a Private Practice (I haven’t named it, help) Downtown and could use other Doctors, Nurses, Receptionist and such type friends. She’s very friendly and polite so it’s likely that she wouldn’t have turned anyone off too hard.

The Suspicious Ones - People in her life that are antagonistic or not but are suspicious of why she’s so withdrawn, why she seems so odd, and why she doesn’t actively talk about her past. Whether they think she’s a spy or whatever, it doesn’t matter, these people give her the side-eyes and are often trying to catch her doing something that’ll help them figure it out.

Exes - Though she hasn’t dated a ton, prior to getting engaged she did have a few boyfriends (and one or two girlfriends) within her life. These can be any of your characters if you’d like. I can’t see it having ended poorly as she’s really nice but if your character has beef that is also totally, 100% fine.

Luna is the proud, loud, child of the O’Connor’s. Magic was allowed in the house during early years of life since there was nothing to hide in a household of mages. It was in the early years with her mother that she fell in love with baking, using a tinge bit of magic to help out in the kitchen and to blow off steam.

It wasn’t until after her mother passed away did emotions cloud good judgement and she started losing control and her magic came out at the most inconvenient times. More so, when the family expanded and her father remarried a human. Suddenly the one place she could be herself was gone and she had to try hide her abilities.

Countless of times she slipped up and her step-mother, or step-sister needed their minds erased. It had happened so often she learned how to perform the incantation herself. Until one day, she couldn’t find it in herself to do it. Luna just couldn’t see her step-sister’s blank confused expression one more time. Instead of obeying the mage law, she confided in her step-sisters her biggest secret.

It made the world of difference. The bond between the two had never been stronger. Growing up, her step-sister always kept her grounded. Helped her calm her and even learn how to contain her magic when emotion ran rampant. For that reason, she believes that humans should know about mages. It may be difficult in the beginning, but in the end she thinks it be for the best.
