June 18 - forever a day that isn’t easy. People say “time heals all wounds” which to me really means “time allows you to learn to live with your wounds”. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about all the things we should be doing. I would never wish a sibling being murdered or losing your mom before you’re 30 on my worst enemy because the struggle is real. Oh. So. Real. . . Social media is all about being perfect right? Well today I’m not perfect. Today I’m feeling the heaviness of what I don’t have even though I know I’m blessed beyond measure with other things going on in my life. But that’s grief. It’s ugly. It’s truth. It’s acceptance. It’s...a journey. Not one I’m thrilled to be on but my choice is to continue making my mom and sis proud despite them not being here physically. . . Just a heads up, dealing with grief doesn’t mean I need pity. Sometimes it’s important to post your process because there is someone out there who thinks they’re crazy for going through exactly what you’re going through. There are people who are told to “let it go” when it’s been x amount of time - NEWSFLASH: Grief doesn’t care about your timetable or give you a set time period before it’s over. Grief makes you feel alone even when you’re surrounded by love. Grief isolates and you learn to swim against the current to lean on those around you. . . Time is short. Don’t waste it. Hug your loved ones. And if you’re in the midst of it - it gets easier. Notice I didn’t say better but easier. You’re not alone. Grief sucks.
