I thought disco was coming back, she started a war, I think she felt like she needed to confess everything to me, but I told her, "The past is the past. All that matters to me is who you are now." And who she was, was an incredible, loving being.â
I think itâs interesting how Rose Quartz, a notable liar, kept all these secrets for literally thousands of years, yet she wanted to spill everything to Greg, of all people. I donât think Rose felt quite as strongly as strongly about Greg as Greg felt about her as of We Need to Talk (when Greg said that the love he felt for her was âtorture,â she didnât understand what he meant), but this is some next level trust right here.
Like, this is stuff sheâs the most ashamed of. Her actions, her war, hurt countless gems and people (Greg mentioned this in The Return), a war which spawned from her guilt in having a hand in Earthâs destruction and the initial harm to organic life via the kindergartens. All awful things.
And Greg doesnât want to hear it. It doesnât matter. Itâs in the past. He just knew Rose wasnât the same person she was back then which, if Roseâs sentiments from Greg the Babysitter are anything to go by:
âWhen a gem is made, itâs for a purpose. They burst out of the ground already knowing what theyâre supposed to be and thatâs what they are. Forever.â
That would be a really, really big deal for her. And not only is this coming from someone whom she admires, itâs someone who was a similar situation as her. His parents wanted nothing to do with his interests, so he went off on his own, changed his name, remade his entire life, and completely cut ties with his family. He made some mistakes, falling in with the likes of Marty, but overall, heâs come out fine, better even. Things didnât go the way he planned, but itâs for the best; heâs improving himself, heâs grown up, heâs responsible.
Iâm just so intrigued by their relationship! I really hope we get an episode detailing that conversation mentioned up top.
