For some reason, I feel like the last line foreshadows how their relationship is going to resolve. It's as if the author is trying to comfor YWxHB shippers that although they have grown apart from each other, that
doesn’t mean the time they spent together. Those are the times that will be cherished as beautiful memories of youth in “that summer” by both of them. They are the experiences that constitute the HB and YW in the present as well as in the future. However, the past should be appreciated as it is, like a pleasant memory - nothing more and nothing less.
Likewise, YW and HB heartwarming relationship is also a thing in the past. It may not be like how it used to be, but they had been there, being has come to accept his past as part of who he is. The acceptance enables him to be more honest with CR as he talks about himself, which he has never done before. We’re only waiting for HB to have a proper conversation with YW instead of denying all the feelings and memories associated with YW.

it’s true though, maybe that’s what author-nim’s trying to hint (although i’m not putting anything past her, she always surprises me with her plot twists)? that even though their relationship might fall apart, they both grew from that experience and have their memories to keep with them, both good and bad. but THAT MAKES ME SAD LOL;;;;; i’m gonna go through an entire tissue box once YW and HB finally talk it out
