There have been quite a few cold days in Boulder so it was time for me to find a bit more warmth and climb. We took off to Hueco Tanks State Park, Texas. The park brings out visitors for it's historic pictographs, bird watching, hiking and climbing. This time of the year, it's at least 60% climbers. 

The park is very protected with only a limited amount of people allowed on North Mountain and only guided tours for East and West Mountain. Reservations are highly recommended if you plan to visit. 

But once you're in the park, the many adventures begin.

On Christmas day, we climbed and made dinner. Posole and tamales from the local market were on the menu!

The next day, some snow came in so we visited the Carlsbad Caverns. This a must see!

We hope everyone had great adventures in 2014 and we're ready for more to come in 2015!

TinyHouseBuild.com recently featured an article expressing the benefits, from an environmental and sustainability standpoint, of downsizing from an average modern sized house to a tiny house. Gabriella, the author of the article, breaks down the facts and makes great comparisons:

"We are depleting our resources at a faster rate than we can replenish them and housing plays a very large role in this equation. During construction of the average sized house, nearly 7 logging trucks of wood products are used whereas in a tiny house, only about half of one logging truck is needed. The pollution associated with an average house is significant (about 28,000 pounds of CO2 emissions each year). In contrast, a tiny house only generates about 2,000 pounds."

This past weekend, we spent Saturday and Sunday in Sculpture Park in Downtown Denver for Pallet Fest. Pallet Fest was a free festival celebrating the art of upcycling and raising awareness of where materials come and go. There was live music, artwork, hands-on activities, home and garden show, a pallet maze, upcycled fashion show and an obstacle course. This is a very cool event and we look forward to next year!
