Ok, this is different. Measuring a "carbon.txt" file?
According to the Green Software Foundation:
"carbon.txt is a single, discoverable location on any domain – /carbon.txt – for public, machine‑readable sustainability data.
Organisations publish their data and let others know where to find it through their carbon.txt file. Meanwhile data consumers know where to look for these disclosures. Carbon.txt files become a vital link making it much easier for everyone.
Behind the scenes, it’s a web‑first, connect‑not‑collect approach, designed to be extended. We envisage carbon.txt growing into essential data infrastructure that supports meaningful action on the climate crisis."
OooooooooooooooooooooooooK... 😆
This is just a racket justifying a method for others to directly access data. For those who wish to provide data access, this is ok. But just to give hackers direct access to data not intended to be scraped, but viewed in the traditional browsing method, it's nothing more than "help yourself to stealing my content..."
They even go so far as to talk about "digital emissions:"
I'll say this, since I removed all my DLCC website content last Halloween and left only a marker page with a link to this Tumblr account, I can honestly say I've done my part in reducing my "digital emissions" that could have been caused by visitors polluting the Internet traffic connections with noxious 0's & 1's viewing my past website content via a browser... 😆😆😆
Wooooooooow...just...wow...
🙄
Just another "justification" for CONTENT THEFT...
