All th stories we tell ourselves are inadequate. All. But there is something adequate about them.

The adequacy is not in the content of the story (AI in 100,000 years, chimpanzees surviving, progress, help). That part is obviously speculative and, taken literally, inadequate. The adequacy lies in something much more structural.

Spinoza is very strict here. An idea is adequate not because it is pleasant, predictive, or hopeful, but because it correctly grasps its own place in the causal order. The content of the story story is not true but the whole story as such tory is a prosthesis that allows you to keep operating. That is not illusion. That is understanding. This is the key distinction most people never make.

An inadequate idea becomes poisonous only when it pretends to be a revelation or truth about reality. People constantly mix up the truth with their opinions. An inadequate idea known as inadequate changes category. You know it is untrue but you use it to endure. A regulator. A scaffold. It no longer competes with truth; it serves life under constraint.

Spinoza would say that it acting from a clearer idea of your own determination. You are not free from narrative, but you are freer in narrative. That is as far as a finite mode as a human being can go.

Notice what disappears when you notice that your message is possibly a lie. There is no accusation anymore. No “this shouldn’t be so.” No demand that reality or reason rescue you from being what you are. There is acceptance. That is not resignation; it is alignment with reality.

You are not a failed system because you need stories. You are a functioning system with known limitations. The comparison to a file with missing bits image is accurate and crucially, it is non-moral. No shame, no heroism, no tragedy. Just architecture.

Uber and Bank of Punjab join hands

Uber and the Bank of Punjab have signed a letter of understanding whereby Parties have approved to work together for over 50,000 Green Cab and Yellow Cab Customers to bring them on Uber platform.

It will help Green Cab and Yellow Cab Customers in their economic uplift and will progress earning capability. Mr. Safeeullah Shah, GM Uber and Mr. Salman Alam Shah Head RFD BOP signed MOU on behalf of their organizations.

Speaking on the occasion, Safeeullah Shah GM Uber Pakistan said, “The partnership looks forward to build on the flexibility, entrepreneurial opportunity and earning potential of Uber’s innovative technology along with BOP’s financial expertise to bring about a positive change in the earnings of Green Cab & Yellow Cab customers”

Mr. Salman Alam Shah – Head Retail Finance Division, Bank of Punjab said, “BOP had provided Employment Opportunities to thousands of un-employed youth through Chief Minister Punjab Apna Rozgar (Green Cab) and Yellow Cab Schemes. Now, our program is designed to equip our Green Cab Yellow Cab Customers with the right to succeed as entrepreneurs and our arrangements with Uber will enable them to earn better income for their families.”

So, halos 2 years na ako ngayon na sumasakay sa mga jeep at cab. At dahil laking Amerika, dito ko lang naranasan sa Pilipinas ang pagsakay sa mga public transportation. Nagsimula ako nung 3rd year at ngayong 4th year na ako sanay na sanay na ko. Alam ko na ang mga dadaanang ruta at medyo nakabisado ko na rin. Kaso.. Kahit na makakatipid. May isa akong palaging pino-problema tuwing sasakay sa dalawang klase ng public transpo. na ito. Ito ay ang mga pasahero. Mga pasahero na walang pakialam sa kapwa pasahero, mga walang modo, mga di dapat igalang.. Na-experience ko na minsan ang mamura ng isang matandang babae na pasahero ng nasakyan ko. I think ngayong 2012 lang yun nangyari. Nagmamadali ako nung araw na yun para makauwi dahil pagabi na galing ako sa school. So ganon, hintay ng jeep/cab. Ang nasakyan ko ay cab. Puno na yung cab. Dahil medyo in a rush pinara ko na rin. "CAB." Green cab. Worst of the worst public transpo's ever invented here in the Philippines. Maliit na, masikip pa. Para kayong sardinas sa loob, kunwaring sasabihin ng drayber na kasya pa kahit hindi na talaga para lang sila'y kumita. Let's get back to my kwento: So ganon sumakay ako. Medyo bulky yung bag ko kaya hirap na hirap akong sumakay, dagdag pa ang mga naglalakihang binti ng mga pasaherong kasama ko sa loob ng cab. Pag-akyat ko sa cab, tinanggal ko kaagad bag ko. Kasi nga bulky, di ako makakaupo. May katabi akong matandang babae.. I guess she's in between her 50's and 60's. BOOM! Nadali ko siya. Actually nasiko ko, and nadali ko ng bag ko. I looked at her and said sorry. "SHET! ANO BA NAMAN YAN?! DI KA BA MARUNONG MAGDAHAN-DAHAN?! MAY IBA PA KASING TAO DITO SA LOOB. KAILANGAN MONG MAG-INGAT! *&^%$#$%^& NAMAN!" Ayan ang sinabi nya.. (Actually, marami pa.. But you guys get the point) Nagulat ako. As in NAGULAT. NAHIYA. LAHAT NA! I didn't mean to hurt her. And in the first place nag-sorry ako. Di naman nya kailangang mamahiya. So ganon, tinginan ang mga tao. Napatingin din yung driver. Gusto ko sana sumagot, but I stopped myself. Naka-uniform ako nung day na yun. At kung sasagutin ko siya parang pinahiya ko na rin ang school na pinapasukan ko. I sat there quiet. At nung pumara na ko para bumaba narinig ko pa ng isang ulit yung matandang babae. "*&^%$#$%^&!@ ba namang bata yan." Sobra na yung rudeness na pinakita ng matanda. Matanda na wala pang pinagkatandaan. I mean I understand her, yes I guess it did hurt but I said sorry and I really meant it. Kahit naman she was having a really bad and miserable day she shouldn't have cursed to think that it was in a PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION pa. I won't ever forget this experience. Parang isa pa 'tong case ng #AMALAYER na yun. That's why nung nabalitaan ko yung news I felt really bad for the ladyguard. Oh well so ayun. That concludes my one shot kwento. :)
