Salins-les-Bains (FR), well known for the Great Saltworks. Tons of salt were extracted there before it’s closure in 1962. You now can visit the Salt Museum. The city itself is very cosy and there are some great hikes to Fort Belin as well as to Fort Saint André. Unfortunately both forts can’t be visited, but they have a magnificent view over the city. Especially the viewpoint at Fort St. André is really worth a visit in the dark.
