LISTEN I’m so happy that comes forth because I try so hard with OCs, given the stigma that OCs are either seen/labelled as “Mary Sues” or an extension of oneself, which Lisa is not an extension of me; I’m 24 with a brat puppy. In all reality, as I’ve stated before as I really went into discovering who Lisa is, I found that in some ways I was writing my mom. I think that’s why I stay hyperfocused on her characterization and making an attempt in keeping it consistent because my mom is a big inspiration for Lisa and to hear people like her makes me feel pretty good.
An example of finding my mom within Lisa’s characterization...okay so you know Lisa cares so much about how her kids think and see her, she’s never once let them see her with any boyfriend after the divorce because she didn’t want them to judge her. My mom told this to one of her employees the other day and it’s something Lisa would say. My mom’s words were:
“Who cares what people think about you. The only people you should care about is what your husband thinks and what your kids think, and half the time you don’t give a shit what your husband thinks.”
