Arriving home was the usual process of waiting around exiting the plane, collecting baggage heading through customs, I then prayed no media was around just family waiting.

I walked through the international exit I had a quickly scanning the area around thankfully no immediate crazy paparazzi or media waiting around, that I could see. My mum stood there with a big welcome home sign my brother by her side huge smiles on their faces.

As we left the airport I opened my messages to see numerous messages from Grayson and my friends demanding to know what was going on. I immediately called Grayson to let him know I had arrived safely and was on the way home. He apologised profusely for the paparazzi and article hoping it had not effected my arrival home and to be honest it hadn’t really in the sense everything was fine as far as I knew but I also knew I would have to respond to my friends and let them know what was going on. I’d decided once I got home and had a chance to shower, relax and catch a breath I would explain everything to my friends but it was too late as our car pulled up into the drive way I was bombarded with my two best friends waiting at my door. Unbeknown to me there was also a car across the street with a man and his wide lens camera, capturing my arrival home the chaos my best friends were unleashing and my mum snd brother struggling with my luggage, before heading home and promising to be back the following day.

“Welcome home bitch!! What the fuck!” “Yes!!! What clauds said. We’re you not going to say anything? You’re literally all over the explore page on instagram!!”

Yes that’s how you want to be greeted home after a 14 hour flight full of crippling anxiety. But these are my best friends Claudia and Olivia 18 years of friendship between us so I kinda expected it considering my big secret.

“I know, I’m sorry you both have questions and I promise you I have answers but not out here, I need to shower.” I pleaded pulling them into the house. Before noticing the silver Toyota driving off.

“Ok fine we’ll allow it, but you’re insane we hope you know that. Do you know what kind of gossip storm is already brewing on our socials! People we haven’t even spoken to in like 10 years are resharing the photos! Like EMILY!!”

“I figured, I’m sure there will be more too. Did either of you see the silver car across the road when you got here?”

“Mmm no, just your neighbours, why?”

“Nothing never mind. I’ll be back in 10 Im not washing my hair but I need to freshen up, make yourselves at home, as always”

With that I was off to the shower messaging Grayson to let him know I believed someone had already found my house and let him know my girl friends were with me so you weren’t alone. He sent a soppy message in response about how much he missed and loves you. Also that sledge hadn’t stopped whining since he’d come home from the airport, he also reminded not to worry as his people were dealing with it all and that probably laying low for the next couple day until he arrived would be for the best.

As I walked out of the bathroom to the laundry i could hear both girls in the kitchen scavenging for food and complaining at the lack of options you had to offer them in such a crisis.

“You both know I haven’t been here for months clearly I’m not going to have many options to eat” you laughed watching them check all your cupboards.

“Well that’s not good enough in this crisis, we’re ubering Chinese and wine so get talking” Claudia sassed

“Well what do you want to know?” I knew this was going to be a lot for them to take in and weren’t sure you were prepared for their reactions when you eventually revealed what was going on.

“You know me I’m going to keep it simple and Claudia is going to interrogate. Firstly before the interrogation is it serious?”

“I know and I’m ready, but I don’t know if you’re both ready so can we sit in the lounge so we can all be comfortable for my interrogation” I responded before collapsing onto the couch.

“Yes it’s very serious” saying it out aloud made the necklace feel even heavier around your neck.

“Okay so how did you meet him?”

“Tinder, and yes I know I said I would never but everyone was in relationships I was on my own as always and I knew you were both over me complaining so I bit the bullet signed up and found him. To be honest I did initially think he was a catfish but he wasn’t and I’m the happiest I’ve ever been”

“So this has been going on a while then?”

“Well yeah we started talking a year and 2 months ago. We’ve been official for at least 11 months.”

“When you went to America for 2 weeks that was what”

“It was us meeting for the first time and him convincing me I shouldn’t end what we had because we live long distance, he made it official then.” Trying to hide your smile remembering the two weeks of bliss shared was so hard.

“Has he been to Australia in that time?”

“No he’s coming this week so everyone can meet him, well mum and marcus have already met him ‘cos as you know they were in LA for a couple weeks with me”

“So the fams in on it too, I see… What are their thoughts…” this was it, I took my necklace off held the ring in my hand and continued.

“They both love him and his family, given their blessing. They all get along so well, I can’t wait for you both to meet him. Especially because we’re going to have to enact our maid of honour pact.” A pact we made as 16 year olds dreaming of our perfect weddings only to realise we could only have one maid of honour so we made a pact. I would be Claudia’s, Claudia would be Olivia’s and Olivia would be my maid of honour.

In the midst of their screams of horror, happiness, emotion and commotion the door bell saved me for a moment to catch my breath getting our food and wine before, re-entering the madness.

“Hey babe?” you heard him say from the bedroom.

“Yeah?” You called to Ethan, keeping your eyes on the mirror, as you brushed your teeth.

No answer.

“E?”

You heard the bathroom door open and you saw your boyfriend in the reflection of the mirror shuffle in. He made his way over to you, placing his hands on your hips and his chin atop your head. “Mmm,” he hummed into your hair. “You’re the perfect height for me to rest my chin on your head,” he whispered. Just the feel of his body on yours made your heart warm.

“I love you. So much,” he mumbled, kissing your cheek, and as he continued, his kisses travelled down your neck and shoulder.

“Baby, I’m trying to brush my teeth,” you chuckled, mouth full of toothpaste. “We can make out later,” you half-joked. You felt him smirk against your skin and you peeled away from him just to tease him.

“Hey!” he protested, making you snort. “Go to bed, I’ll come when I’m done,” you urged.

He frowned. “Fine,” he scoffed, backing out the door slowly. You spat out the toothpaste and washed your face. Placing the washcloth over your face, you massaged your skin gently, sighing softly as the warmness soaked into your skin.

The feeling quickly faded when you felt a splash of cold water drench your head, soaking your hair and your clothes. Shrieking from the sudden temperature change, you ripped the cloth off your face, to reveal a literal ‘rolling on the floor laughing’ Ethan holding an empty plastic cup in his hand.

“ETHAN!!! What the fuck!!”

He couldn’t even speak; he was too busy clutching his stomach still gasping for air on the floor.

You stomped over to the shelves to grab a clean towel, quickly drying yourself so you could use the now-damp towel to whip at Ethan before he could get up.

“You’re!” Whip. “Such!” Whip. “An!” Whip. “Ass!” Whip. “Hole!!!!”

You flung the towel onto his face, muffling his laughter that was still going on, before heading into the bedroom and finding some clean pajamas to wear. As you slid on a new shirt, you felt hands jabbing at your side, sending you into a scream fest and Ethan into a fit of laughter once more.

“Ethan Grant Dolan, I swear to fucking God if you-”

You were silenced by his lips pushing firmly onto yours. You were so annoyed with this kid, but who could resist? You grabbed him and kissed him back, deepening the kiss, making it rougher. He gripped your back, pulling you closer to him, lips still connected. He started to kiss down your neck, making you give out a small moan.

But what he couldn’t hear was the evil grin that had begun to form on your face. You snatched your black hair elastic off the drawer where you kept your clothes and twisted it to make a slingshot-like shape.

Pretending to press your hand against the back of his neck, you took your other hand and stretched out the elastic.

Snap!

“FUCK!” he swore, jumping away from you. “What the hell was that?!”

You gave him a sly smirk, holding up the elastic.

“Y/N!” he gasped, squinting his eyes at you.

“You deserved it, weirdo,” you retorted, rolling your eyes. “C’mon let’s go to bed. No more screwing around.”

Ethan opened his mouth to protest but you cut him off.

“And NO playing Fortnite!”

“Fine!” he grumbled, flailing lifelessly onto the bed. You grabbed his arms, pulling him onto you and shuffling under the covers. You rested your head and your hands on his bare chest as he wrapped a leg around you and his arms around your torso.

“You know, if you weren’t here I could be playing Fortnite,” he muttered.

“Ha! As if,” you snarked. “If I wasn’t your girlfriend you’d be alone forever.”

He laughed, giving you a gentle push under the blankets. “Rude!”

You smiled against his chest, knowing you had won this time.

“It’s probably true though.” he chuckled. “I’m so lucky I have you baby.”

Okay, maybe you hadn’t won yet.

“Are you trying to use your soft technique to get to me E?” you teased, looking up at him. But he wasn’t. There was no smirk drawn on his lips, there was no playfulness in his eyes. Instead, there was a gentle, soft smile of sincereness spread across his face and his golden hazel brown eyes read truth. He meant it.

“Aww Ethan,” you melted. “I love you.” You kissed his lips, once, twice and a third time. “So so much.” He only became soft like this when the two of you went to bed together.

You snuggled once more into his chest, and you felt his hands come up to play with your hair.

“You know, I remember practicing how to ask you out in the mirror. I was so nervous, I kept fumbling over my words and Grayson was teasing me ‘cause usually he’s the one who can’t speak,” he laughed softly. “He kept telling me not to bother trying ‘cause you probably wouldn’t say yes anyway.”

“Baby,” you breathed gently. “You’re so cute. Everything about you is perfect. I wanna kiss your face ‘til you make me stop but even that won’t make me stop ‘cause I love you too much. You’re the bestest boyfriend...”

He could tell you were falling asleep because you were starting to mumble “cuteness overload” on him. It was one of his favourite parts of falling asleep together because it was the time he got to hear your honest thoughts about him and how much you really loved him. As he embraced you, he continued talking.

“But I didn’t listen to him, he obviously didn’t know what he was talking about. I wasn’t just going to give you up ‘cause my brother ‘told me to.’ I didn’t care if you said yes or no. Well, okay I really wanted you to say yes.”

At this point, he was just talking to himself, because your light snores had started.

“But I knew I would have regretted it if I didn’t take the chance.”

“And you know what? Grayson was damn wrong. I have the best girlfriend in the world and now I’m tucked in bed with her sleeping on me. You’ll be mine forever. I just know it. I want nothing more in the world than to spend the rest of it with you. And we’re gonna get married, and have kids, maybe 4? That’d be a lot of good sex. And we’re gonna get a HUGE house and we’ll go on vacation every year. We’ll get a dog to keep Gray away since he’s allergic and we’ll go back to New Jersey every other month…”

He continued to draw on and on about the life he’d spend with you in the future, as you continued to snore softly on him.

Finally, he looked down at you sleeping soundly. Smiling, he leaned over and kissed your forehead gently. “Goodnight, Y/N. I promise you, I will give you the best life with me that you could ever ask for.”

And even though you couldn’t hear him, he knew that you knew all of this already.

I wrote about soft E today hahaaa. I hope you liked reading about soft E, I really liked writing it! The idea just came out of nowhere, so I hope I met standards for all you Ethan girls? It was kinda hard to write since I’m hardcore in Gray’s lane lolol. I hope it did justice! 

You watch him a minute longer finishing up his last set of pull ups before he jumps down and turns to grab his hydro flask smirking as he catches you watching him though the mirror making his way back to the room to kiss you good morning.

“Morning babe, sorry I didn’t wake you. Thought you might like the sleep in for once” he smiles leaning down to peck you on the lips and then forehead

“Thank you. I did enjoy the sleep in... but the show I caught in the mirror was just as good” you smile brightly at him as he picks up his phone to check the time.

“Oh yeah?” Grayson smugly smiles at you

“Yeah I think I’ll stay in bed a little longer if I can still have that view while you’re finishing up” you nod your head towards the double doors

“What my lady wants my lady gets...” he laughs giving you another peck.

Grayson goes to walk outside not before catching himself in the mirror. Knowing Grayson as long as you had known him, you knew he wasn’t about to miss an opportunity to flex his muscles in the mirror and take a photo as the morning sun shone through the doorway.

You laughed out loud as you watch him roll his shorts up at the leg and flex taking another one of his douche bag mirror selfies you loved.

“Laugh all you want baby, but you know you love getting these on a stressful day at work. Plus I think I might break the internet with this one” he smirks winking at you as he heads back outside.

“I see how it is recycle your thirst trap photos on me! I don’t even get unseen ones” you call out. Not even a second later he appears in the door way closing the doors with force making you squeal with excitement. You knew exactly what you were in for and you weren’t complaining.
