Warning: Inhaling vaporized Aluminum is toxic so only use aluminum foil if you don't have a bowl and don't apply heat for too long to the bowl at one time. Aluminum turns to vapor at 1,850 degrees Fahrenheit bud burns at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for really dry bud, with the maximum heat before combustion around 445 degrees Fahrenheit. It's generally safe for short term use but long term use should ALWAYS be avoided.

If you're in a pinch and want to get very stoned, take the bottom inch or 2 off of a two liter (this works with any bottle but take off less with smaller bottles).

Get the cap from the bottle and bore a hole in the top (small but enough you can stick either a joint, a bowl, or make your own bowl with aluminum around the cap. I like to light a joint and stick it in the top of the cap surrounded by aluminum to hold in the smoke better. Screw the lid on the bottle, fill a bucket or deep tub or bowl with water and then push the bottle down until it is submerged as far as you can get it (not totally but just until most of it is submerged).

Light your joint or bowl of bud that is poking through the top of the cap that is screwed on then slowly pull up on the bottle until the bottle starts to fill up with smoke.

When the bottle is filled with smoke, take the cap off put your mouth over the makeshift mouthpiece and push down as you inhale (not too hard because you're liable to suck in water if you inhale too hard and don't know how far in you've pushed the bottle back down).

If done right the gravity bong should force the smoke into your lungs as you inhale.
