A TRIP TO BUCURESTI
From time to time Footshop opens a new store in some countries where we feel it makes sense and it would bring us closer to our friends and customers. Opening a store is always a big deal in terms of manpower and everything else around it so it's good that we have a very capable team of people who know exactly what they're doing. Also one of the smaller but still important parts is to join forces with a local artist to create a common project to celebrate the occasion.
This time we teamed up with a local Romanian superstar and sneaker artist called Graure. His portfolio took our interest and after an initial connection, I knew it's going to work out pretty good. The whole creative process was straight forward and we wanted to mirror the new store and its elements on a pair of sneakers.
The choice for the base shoe was clear as we wanted to select something heritage looking yet fresh and future proof at the same time. The adidas Supercourt seemed like the right pair to go with. The next step was creating a simple design that will translate the elements resembling both cities of Prague where Footshop was born and Bucharest where it's beginning a new journey.
You can find many small details painted all over the pair flawlessly executed by Graure accompanied by hardware bits finishing off the looks. If you want to know the exact meaning of every element, you can discover it in the last picture above to get a better idea.
The shoes were sold exclusively in-store in Footshop Bucharest and the price was the retail price of the base shoe with the idea of giving our friends and customers an opportunity to get Graures work at a very fair price as a welcome gift from us. There is only 6+1 pairs in existence btw. :) Anyway, this project was fun to work at and I believe we will do something similar very soon again!
