I guess I never did post this. Here are some of the logo designs that I decided to work on for Peggy’s pizza. This was a great opportunity to earn a actual award. The first prize was $250 and second place was $100 and $50 for a logo. I ended up not really doing so well. I ended up struggling a lot with motivation at this point in the semester and this point in the pregnancy, but I tried. And at the end of the day that’s all that matters.

We watched a movie and then went over most of the definitions from the typography list from back in February. We also went over some ideas for Peggy’s Pizza. Making this logo gives us the chance to win $250.

Today we’re printing our final designs for the Literary Convention for Ms. Z. I am so ready for this project to be over with. I know for a fact that I have the sticker as the winner of that part since she liked it so much... but do I feel right about? Nah. There’s so much more I would change and there’s so many things that I would do differently, but time is not infinite. There are deadlines and there are more assignments that I have to devote myself to.

There were four of us today. Two people who normally show up didn’t. We just worked on rearranging our logo design and variations for printing at the print shop on a 11 x17″ sheet. Easy enough, right? I worked on the logo design using the silhouettes and adding some color to it. I would like to hammer that out and have the variations printed for the client on Wednesday too.

We’re meeting with our client today for the Lit Con logo design. Honestly, today is the first day of us being back from break so we’re all dragging behind and barely have anything to show. Luckily, our professor is doing something else right now so we have some time to work on our design or post on tumblr like I’m choosing to do. Haha. I promise I’ll do some work over the weekend meaning Sunday evening. I love how this is coming out so far, but I fear that the client will hate that there are not enough “elements” that portray the arts.

We went ahead and presented our designs to the client again today. She gave us pointers and told us things that she would like to see. Ultimately, only one person will win the spot for their design on the poster. There’s still the chance for another person to have their design on a sticker. I currently have three designs that I am working on and needed to choose one to work on and present today. So, I went with the most basic one and gave her variations of that one. She said she could see it as a bumper sticker because it is straight to the point, but she would love to see the other designs that I’ve been working on.

Today, we were introduced to our next assignment which will be a typography assignment. We watched some videos relating to the concept behind typography and were introduced to the Helvetica typeface and several important people in the design world. Such as, David Carson who designed Ray Gun which is a magazine that I had never heard of until today. The video played a song that I recognized which was Steady As She Goes by who.. I don’t know. Then, Mossimo Vignelli who designed the American Airlines logo which utilizes positive and negative space. Oh yeah, we continued working on our logo designs for Lit Con. And we will need enlargements for Wednesday.
