Hesitation

Ok I think I’m done. That was a lot of animating for me. I will now take a break. I got a back injury from this. Anyways I finally learned color correction so :)

Anyways~ I said this on Instagram but one of the issues I had when adapting swan lake to a fully fledged comic was the fact that it takes like a day? A week? For the whole thing to happen. Like yeah, Siegfried is gonna not live up to eternal faithfulness if he is vowing it to a girl he just met, feels sorry for, and conveniently fits what he needs. So I decided to span it out over 9 months in accordance to the ball season (about 9 months). This allowed me to develop Siegfried’s and Ozdyk’s relationship from frenimies to really good friends to lovers.

ALSO if you’re gonna curse someone to be a swan on a diurnal schedule and have it be broken by someone else, even when you have intention of marrying them/marrying them off to your daughter, I’d assume you’d try to be even more difficult. I wanted to expand on Rothbart and his presence if making every single romantic relationship (a whopping 2) that Ozdyk has nearly impossible to carry through. Thought a cute character quirk would be for feathers to pop up whenever Ozdyk is around someone he’s fallen for because that would increase the likelihood of that person deeming him disgusting. Doesn’t really work when the person you’ve fallen for doesn’t care and is helping you break your curse.

I chose Kismet because I love Polovtsian dances and feel that Borodin’s music fits slightly better with the series overall.
