We are a limited run oc roleplay set at the Granger Institute --- a summer programme for recent Hogwarts graduates who wish to learn more about specific career fields --- in the summer of 2019. Weâll have lots happening within the school itself, and also in the greater wizarding world ! There will be lots of events, plot drops, and tasks to keep things interesting. Weâre going to begin dropping the âskeletonsâ for the instituteâs six courses beginning on Monday, and then the submit will open for applications in exactly a week, on 8 June.Â

Alright, the main has officially been updated and weâll be deciding on an opening time once everyoneâs here !! In the meantime, the submit has been reopened and is ready for new apps to fill our remaining spots ! Weâd love to set a date for our second acceptance as soon as possible, but we probably wonât until we already have an app or two in the inbox. Welcome to our first ever Sunday briefing !! Weâre excited to introduce our weekly Sunday briefing, in which we will be laying out the following weekâs schedule within the roleplay. As this is our first one, we thought itâd be best if we let you know what our plans are for regular tasks and events over the next few months. On alternating Wednesdays, we will be dropping either a task or event so that every week we will have something to prompt the roleplay along! That means one week, we will be dropping a task, and the following an event/major plot drop, and so on and so forth. Furthermore, every Friday, there is a party thrown at the Institute to allow characters to bond together and interact regularly -- as this would happen every Friday, we wonât be posting for it every week.
This week on Wednesday, we will be dropping our first task. Our next acceptance is on Thursday, with the submit closing the night before on Wednesday at midnight EST. Our Sunday briefing will include four sections that we will update every week: Institute news, the Daily Prophet news, this week in the Wizarding World, and the weather. Without further ado, this is the Sunday briefing for Sunday 30th June:
INSTITUTE NEWS.
A reminder to all students of the Institute that classes will begin tomorrow ! Schedules should be double-checked before Monday to ensure that you are all set for the beginning of the program and ready to start working hard.
Tuition will be due on Friday -- if there are any problems or concerns, Assistant Headmaster Lyle will be available to discuss any issues.
Professors will be stopping in by each studentâs fieldwork this week to make sure you are all settling in with your supervisors.

Tuesday 2nd - the President of the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA) announces in a speech their endorsement for Minister-candidate Singh.
Thursday 4th - retired reporter and biographer Rita Skeeter faces scandal in exposĂŠ by investigative journalist Ernie Macmillan. His accusations of dishonesty, slander, and even being an unregistered Animagus (for all those who are unaware, it is illegal to become an Animagus without registering with the Ministry) are supported by the only living subject of her biographies, Harry Potter. Potter, also known as The Boy Who Lived, is quoted as saying â[expletive] hell, finallyâ.Â

Welcome to the official opening of the Granger Institute for the summer of 2019, and the beginning of our first event !! This is our Welcome Weekend for arriving students, and itâs going to provide lots of opportunity to get interactions rolling ! The event will be taking place from now through Sunday, with Granger Institute classes beginning on Monday. You will have from now through Sunday to start any event-related threads --- which is anything taking place from June 28th-30th. Although weâll be moving forward in the timestamp after that, youâre still more than welcome to continue your replies for as long as you need to finish the thread ! We just ask that starters be posted within the event duration.
Below the cut, you will find the full details for Welcome Weekend organized by the date they occur. As youâll see, there are a few open ârolesâ within the event. These are open to anyone, just message us here or on discord if you can see your character doing any of those actions. The roles for the event are entirely first-come-first-served.Â
Now, some general reminders for opening: especially considering that our group is starting out on the smaller side, thereâs really no reason not to be interacting with everybody. Whether itâs through open starters (of course, please reply to any that have already been posted before you consider posting your own, and donât forget to put a link to your starter in the #open-starters discord channel!) or private threads, make it a goal to have something going with every character.Â
In regards to the replies themselves, there are no expectations as far as length goes. Long replies are lovely, and so are quick two-sentence ones !! Also, if you want, there is the option of technology-based interactions ! Since the wizarding world has grown much more tolerant of muggle technologies, students texting each other wouldnât be frowned upon here (that said, it isnât completely widespread, especially when it comes to more traditional families, so itâs up to your discretion whether or not your character would have been introduced to cell phones by their family).Â

FRIDAY, 28 JUNE: MOVE-IN DAYÂ
The Granger Institute is bustling with students, parents, and pets as everyone moves their things into the 3rd, 4th, and 5th-floor residences (see here for an explanation of how the residences are laid out). Once moved in, students are able to explore the grounds, including the classroom wing (which will be locked for the remainder of the weekend) to get a sense of where theyâll be living and learning for the next two months. Despite the buzz and excitement, the day goes on with relatively few hitches --- with the exception of [role A], who somehow manages to explode the pipe in one of the kitchen sinks while preparing their first dinner, temporarily flooding the 4th floor. The chaos lasts for about an hour before caretakers Mr. and Mrs. Quarles are able to clean up the mess. Thankfully, no one is hurt (aside from a few very traumatized cats).Â
SATURDAY, 29 JUNE: FIRST PARTYÂ
The day is free for students to roam about the Institute and greater London as they please, which gives them room for some chaotic ideas. gallo ollivander decides to throw the first party of the summer starting at 10:00pm, in the most well-hidden student lounge so as not to draw attention from Mr. and Mrs. Quarles. With a healthy supply of liquor and great music, the rages splendidly for about two hours --- until it gets a bit too loud and Mr. Quarles comes stomping upstairs to put an end to it. Looks like someone shouldâve cast muffliato.Â
Students are sent promptly to bed, but this doesnât stop everyone. gallo manages to get the word out that festivities will be continuing at the Leaky Cauldron, and a sizable group sneaks out and keeps the drunken shenanigans alive for a few more hours.Â
SUNDAY, 30 JUNE: ORIENTATION & WELCOME DINNER
First, students meet in their separate courses and have a chance to receive syllabi from their instructors, go over class structure and expectations, and meet their mentors (if applicable). Then, everyone is given a tour of the library by shrunken head librarian Petey, who is informative but still rather crass. Finally, students gather in the great hall to hear welcoming remarks and an overview of school rules from Headmistress Maria Planas, Assistant Headmaster Lyle Benjamin, and Mrs. Quarles. Everything goes smoothly and students are eager to finish their orientation and transition into the dinner, when suddenly, chaos erupts. It seems that lia priestley was whispering to a friend during Mrs. Quarlesâ long explanation of what is and isnât allowed in the courtyard, and Magizoology Professor Vasiliev didnât take well to this. He turns lia into a mouse and shouts âkeep squeaking, see where that gets you!â, causing reactions of roaring laughter as well as horror. The temporary interruption is settled quickly, with lia being turned back to their regular self by Headmistress Planas, and Professor Vasiliev being asked to go home and rest until his first class on Tuesday.Â
With orientation over and everyone starving, round tables and a long buffet are whisked into the Grand Hall for the Welcome Dinner. Students and faculty all feast together until everyone is quite full and Headmistress Planas whisks the plates away with a flick of her wand, suggesting that everyone gets a good nightâs sleep before classes begin tomorrow.Â
Hi, everyone. Weâre both very sorry to do this, but weâve decided to put Granger on an indefinite hiatus. Weâve been losing motivation to run this rp since before our first acceptances, and we donât think itâs fair to anyone to continue keeping things running when neither of us have the muse or motivation to be admins or to even write our characters. Thank you to everyone who showed interest and excitement for this group - it wouldnât have even made it for the short time it did if it werenât for you. We apologize again and look forward to hopefully writing with you all in the future, wherever that may be.
