i know a lot of people are taking a year off after grade 12 (or take grade 13) and catching a lot of flack for it but like... i'm so proud of that! and you should be too! it's okay to take your time!! it's your life and no one else's despite all the pressure put on youths by society and parents and schools etc. you do you guys

AH, GRADE 13. My dad has told me of Grade 13.
They made a big mistake getting rid of grade 13. I teach kids who are 17 years old and expected to know how to handle themselves away from home. I started university I was 19, and though I was still an idiot I wasn’t as big of an idiot as I was when I was 17.
I'm making real mature decision about my life. And I feel proud of myself, but this experience is scary and unpredictable. I'm glad for my parents support behind this and yeah
oac year or ontario academic credit year... that doesn't make sense.
That's right. Like I mentioned last time. In Ontario we were (un)fortunate enough to have Grade 13, even though it was technically called OAC year... and really, we just called it OA.
If you were to do Grade 13 now, it would be called a victory lap.
In OA, I shared a locker. Crazy right? The most senior of the seniors and we're sharing lockers. It wasn't that bad though.
One highlight of this year was our senior band trip. We had found a teddy bear under the school wearing an an old school t-shirt. So we cleaned it up and were going to present it to our music teacher on the trip. I was in charge of the bear and I used it to scare people on the bus in the middle of the night. Hilariousness.
Because this is my last yearbook of high school, it is chock full of great quotes. So I'll just skip right to those...
"Remember reach-ahead summer school biology? We really hacked up that pig didn't we?"
"Your writing is disgustingly neat, but I'm glad, because I was able to read all the notes I borrowed off you. About half my notes are really yours!"
"Thanks for driving all of us to La Boom. It was funny how PO'ed they all got."
"I don't know what I'll do if I have to take physics in university and you're not there to insult me. I'll have to suffer through I guess."
"Thanks for being so funny - I couldn't have survived physics without you."
"You think I'm the weird one? You're the one who eats big boxes of Froot Loops in class! Hope you like the Animorphs poster."
"I hope you will get over your dislike for turtles. They are really harmless if not downright likeable."
"Did you know the actual size of a Jolly Rancher is 2cm by 2cm SQUARE!!!"
"So yeah, one day I was on this band trip and... AAUGHHHH! Thanks for being so funny and scaring the *$%! out of me."
"You were extra funny on the band trip bus. Hilarious with the teddy bear scares! Ok... here, I'm scared ok? ahem... AAAAAAAAHHHHH. Wow! That was so scary."
"I recall in Grade 9 when you got us BOTH in trouble by stealing my pencil case and throwing it in the garbage and then whiteout spilled ALL OVER and I swore a lifetime vendetta - ah, the memories."
"Still remember in Grade 9, making fun of people telling them they'll get a cookie if they run laps. Pretty sick now that I think about it."
"I have enjoyed talking with you, even if you have occasionally acted not entirely normal. Of course, I may just be jealous of your innate genius."
"Call me sometime and we'll hook up..."
And on that note, that's a wrap on high school!

I will never ever, understand why people would want to stay in high school for a grade 13. High school is hell
Move on with your lives
