love vc: define “pleasing”

“I present to you, exhibit a, this totally inconspicuous and ordinary fellow Haven student who I don’t know at all:

     HENRY BLINKS TWICE AT THE COMPLIMENT,   and then scrambles to acknowledge Love with a simultaneous head-tilt nod. Such a mess of a gesture would earn a frown from his family were they to see it, for sure. However, this Love’s words still reverberates in his ears, and Henry cannot stop himself from smiling.

     But what about this particular piece of flattery throws him off-balance? Is it how direct and blatantly Love says it? Yes, that must be it. No member of Atlesian society would dare to step out of the comfort of double-talk and indirect speech. People were very reserved on admitting the truth around these parts, and whereas other citizens of Mantle would most likely be perturbed or unnerved by this type of talk, Henry finds this up-front honesty ….  refreshing, for a lack of a better word.

  “  It looks nice, right?  ”

     No sooner does he respond than does a certain epiphany strike his mind; if Love wasn’t from Atlas, then he was likely a stranger to the name of Marigold Banking. Did that mean his kind words weren’t for impressing the Marigold family, but for the ears of Henry and Henry alone?

     What a wonderful surprise this was. If he was entirely honest, Henry cannot rid himself of the bare Atlesian uneasiness in his faltering smile. Still, he decides to let loose, and takes a half-step forwards.

every day, he always did this to her ! not that she at all minded the affection of course, she would never mind that- but she did mind the very show-y way love went about saying his goodbyes to her. it made people stare and snicker and some whispered to each other and it made her feel way too much like the center of attention.

“ love, we’re both gonna be late to our next classes if we don’t get going... i promise to see you after classes end, okay ? i’ll drop by your team’s dorm. “

        slow mornings with love are nice.  the other usually rolls out of bed right afterwaking up, but they’re both being lazy today. if 6am is lazy.  they’re in the inn love rented for his stayin mistral even though robin offered to let him crash haven’s dorms forfree.  it’s not like they can kick out everystudent even after all the shit that happened with the white fang.  campus already turns into a ghost town whenschool isn’t in session, but plenty of students like robin have no other placeto stay except at the dorms. but love said something about wanting his ownspace.  so that was that.

        what a stupidly fancyspace, robin thinks. staring at the top of the four poster bed.  

        it’s nicely carved.  the room is big and furnished.  the bathroom’smassive.  mistrali decor isn’t uglyostentatious even in a richer, better part of the city than robin could only dreamof staying in.  there’s just the flimsywhite canopy over the posters that robin called a glorified mosquito net whenhe first saw it, which made love talk about how nice canopy beds are for five minutes straight while robin tried not to grimace. it’s all.… fanciful.  princess-y. something his sister would have liked when she was littler.  something love likes too.  obviously.  but it’s fine with the windows open,stirring the gauze around them.
