"’Hali’ or ‘Kingika’ is a powerful traditional dance by the Pokomo women from Kenya. After a woman gives birth, they stay indoors for 40 days (arubaini) as they are nursed back to health. This dance is done when she is brought outside officially after the forty days. Traditionally it was a women only affair. The dance depicts the pain of child birth.” -- Grace Mburu Video credit: Tausi Tonykal
