GGST Interview Summary.
Bullet Points on GGST (from the Interview):
GGST does not use past designs and old views (but still references them). It had to be dissected/rebuilt and be a completely new game.
GGST elements are still "accepted" as part of Guilty Gear. Decisions made were done so as to "not forget" what GG is and why it's so beloved.
GG is (to them) about connecting with other players on a global scale, prioritized over quality/content. They also hope to re-employ live events at some point after the pandemic is dealt with.
Working with fans' thoughts (feedback) is just as much a part of "Daisuke's Vision" as his own ideas are.
Ishiwatari takes his feedback straight as it comes, though he does share it with his team for any improvements to be made (within limitations). They will try to use feedback to come up with new ideas for game content/gameplay content, but for art/music/story they have their own intent (which isn't as flexible).
In regards to character expression (rivalries/winquotes/etc), because of the roster being planned for, they have to prioritize certain aspects over others. They do hope to go back and make a big update that covers everybody, however.
With regards to characters, they all have an element of "Ishiwatari" in them (not just Sol), so there's more than one answer (idea at play). For each response/answer for Ishiwatari, he "entrusts" it to each character, and develops/expands their background (character development) from there. Sol is a character he "aspires" to be, rather than based on him. (GP's Comment: Just gonna say, I've always believed that characters like Bedman and Happy Chaos are like dark muses for Ishiwatari, among others.)
FINAL WORD:
In terms of Roster expansion, or even mechanics expansion… they are probably going to do everything that is feasible, but I honestly wouldn't drive home the idea that everything is guaranteed. They'll probably be doing a lot with Strive, but not in the same way as we've seen/remembered in previous games.
Meaning, some elements, like Instant Kills, Blitz Shield, Force Breaks, other features (EX Mode/Boss Modes) will probably either not exist the way we recall… or be completely tossed/revamped/overhauled.
Strive is going to still be "Strive"… it's not gonna be the other games. That's the main idea you have to comprehend.
