Belated Game of the Year for 2012
I know that I'm a little late on this, but I think I finally figured out what my game of the year was for 2012. After some thought, I'd have to go with The Last Story. I'm not sure if any other games in 2012 gripped me as much as The Last Story did. The characters are amazing and full of depth. You may get an archetype like the typical "womanizer", but this game adds depth to the characters to make you forget about such notions. I became pretty attached to them and didn't want to see them harmed. Maybe I get attached to people too easily...I dunno. Despite some cliche moments in the story, I thought it was pretty well told overall. Most importantly of all, it was a very fun game! I didn't expect it to be such a fun game (I enjoyed it more on "auto" than on "manual"). It was a little short, but it made up for it with great visuals, great audio, great characters, and great gameplay. It's not perfect, but it was my favorite game of 2012.
