Butter, apples, milk, wheat crackers, avocados, pears, pasta, eggs — EGGS! They needed a new batch, and they were part of his dinner plans for tonight. Joseph folded up the little piece of paper with his grocery list on it and slipping it into his pocket again before putting his hands back on the shopping card and giving it a push to get it moving.
Right in front of him, his youngest was YET AGAIN leaning out of the baby seat as far as he could to try and reach the colorful array of chocolate treats. Joseph sighed and brushed a hand over his soft hair.
❝ No, we’re STILL not going to take those home. ❞
Ever since the twins had given Crish some milk duds last week, a look of delight crossed the toddler’s face whenever he saw anything even VAGUELY chocolate related. Immediately followed, of course, by huge, tear-brimming eyes whenever the treat passed him by, and Joseph HATED that. It was exactly why he had tried to keep sweets away from all four kids for as long as he’d been able to. But while it had still been relatively easy with Chris, as soon as there were other kids involved, it had become nearly IMPOSSIBLE.
The expression on Crish’s face fell when they didn’t stop for the chocolate and Joseph already tried to prepare himself for what came next but was distracted by the shopping cart that nearly bumped into theirs at the end of the row.
❝ Oh dear, I’m sorry — DAMIEN! Hello, ❞ Joseph smiled at their neighbor, even Crish distracted by twisting around in his seat now to be able to see him.
