Probably the biggest plothole in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is how every single alien Rocket meets refers to him as a different Terran animal.
How do people who have never been to Earth, and know very little of its culture, know so much about its animals?
Are Terran animals being trafficked out in space? I know the High Evolutionary was taking them from Earth so I guess it's not impossible. But I have my doubts about that theory.
Or do they have other animals in space that share the same names as Terran animals and just so happen to remind them of Rocket in appearance? Idk, for the most part that doesn't seem very plausible.
I'd give Yondu a pass on rat because for many years he lived with Peter who could have told him stories about Earth animals. And also I'd buy that space rats are a thing.
I guess I can give Ego a pass too because he visited Earth a few times for Meredith. Although he visited America, which means he's more likely to know what a raccoon is than what a monkey is. (Although I can't imagine him paying much attention to these things.) Unless space monkeys are a thing.
One more thing is that, while Peter obviously knew what a raccoon was, Trash Panda is a fairly new term which he wouldn't have been around to hear considering he was abducted from Earth in the 80s. That insult would have made more sense coming from one of the Avengers.
Poor Rocket was probably a bit embarrassed when he realised Peter had been right all along though.
In short: James Gunn, explain yourself!
