Last night, I watched the Royal Tailor. It was a sad ending, but basically true in its tragic lesson. It starred Park Shinhye, Go Soo, Han Sukkyu and Yoo Yeonseok. The costumes in the movie were beautiful. Apparently a lot of the movie budget went to the hanboks that were shown in the movie. The designs were so intricate and pretty. Casting was pretty on point and their acting was superb. As a hopeless romantic, I’m sad that Go Soo’s character didn’t have more scenes together with the Queen, but he’s so noble and selfless. He realized what the emperor was trying to do and sacrificed himself to save the Queen (Park Shinhye). My heart was so full when they panned in on the hair piece that the Queen wore during the climax of the movie. Go Soo was condemned beyond the point of return, but he was satisfied that he could sacrifice himself for his only dream and the Queen basically returned his feelings by wearing the hair piece. I like how during the execution scene, Go Soo’s character looked at the sky and smiled because he was satisfied with what he had done. He had saved the woman he loves and made a mark in Korean history that would last for days to come. It was the most realistically satisfying ending. Great movie. Would recommend!
