Alright, SO:
In Winter 1561-1562 a play called Gorboduc was performed to Lord Robert Dudley and other members of the Privy Council at the Inns of Court. Less than Two weeks later, the lawyers performed the same play to Queen Elizabeth at Whitehall. This presents to me two possibilities.
1) Robert Dudley really enjoyed the play and badgered the Queen in to having a performance put on at the palace so that she could see it too (and he could see it again, perhaps.)
OR
2) Robert Dudley REALLY DIDN’T enjoy the play, bitched about not enjoying the play, and the Queen decided to troll him by having it performed for her at Court to a) see what he was complaining about, and b) make him sit through it ALL OVER AGAIN.
....i kind of hope it was option 2, because that mental image is hilarious.
