And as a sequel to my last queued post, we learned today at work about Google's United Commercial Protocol (UCP), "a paradigm shift comparable to when everyone started using www" - you won't be shopping on a website. AI agents will find you products, fill your shopping cart, and check you out - without visiting the website. To us as a store this is a challenge, but to us as humans this is a threat.
From National Retail Foundation - which is the voice for the sellers, not the consumers - nor the sellers like us bookshops who take pride in our work -
"AI can not only help shoppers discover new items but decide between them. Pichai noted (and identified as) a “reluctant shopper” who is “looking forward to a day when agents can help me get from discovery to purchase.”
(In Swedish from equivalent association Svensk Handel re dumbbots thinking for you: "AI agents will build your shopping cart")
Broke: fuck AI
Woke: fuck Google and Meta
Wake the fuck up: stop disowning your own intelligence, and stop handing your autonomy and agency over to capitalist infotheft algorithms
