Google April Fools' joke has turned into a real development

First in April 2013, Google announced the alleged Google Nose, a device for transferring odors at bay. Users to literally sniff proposed smartphone. Joke failed – some even received her too seriously.

For example, the company Vapor Communications. Their development, dubbed oPhone, can transmit odors at bay. By Google novelty is irrelevant.

According to the developers, the smells – it is a universal language, and much more convenient and intuitive than the usual “letter” or “sound.” On the site you can read about oPhone “global communications” and a world where smells are the “driving force of friendship.” But really, how can there be a misunderstanding, if the rose smell is the same for all the inhabitants of the planet ?

oPhone connects to your phone or computer. Odors generated by the device itself, but the flavor should be chosen using the application. The project has been in development for more than two years and has been repeatedly shown to the public. For example, this video demonstrates how the smell of espresso passed from room to room.

Twttr

Twitter announced that it will henceforth be a two-teired service. Anyone can use “Twttr,” but you only get consonants and the letter “y.”

Eco Trees

“SMART Eco Trees intake CO2 and release oxygen to support a healthier environment. In the process it also uses a natural filtering system to eliminate pollutants. Guardian Goggles

Guardian upped the augmented reality ante with their new Goggles, “a pair of web-connected…spectacles that will beam [the Guardian's] journalism directly into the wearer’s visual field, enabling users to see the world through the Guardian’s eyes at all times.”

Sarcastically Specific Netflix Categories 

Netflix added a new movie or TV show category to all users’ Netflix accounts…but with a twist. These snarky category titles mock the over-specification that Netflix often uses when separating its media.

Google Nose Beta

According to Google, smelling is believing. This tool allows users to sniff the screens of their computers and smell…whatever it is they’d like to smell. “In the fast-paced world that we live in, we don’t always have time to stop and smell the roses,” proclaims product manager Jon Wooly. “Now with Google Nose Beta, the roses are just a click away.”

Gmail Blue

Google is radically reinventing Gmail with this spoof on Windows Blue. “How do we completely redesign and recreate something while keeping it exactly the same?” asks the project manager. The answer? Gmail Blue. It’s Gmail…only bluer.

Ok, so I was in Physics class today, and we were just going off on all sorts of tangents left and right, when one kid in my class made the comment that made my day. He started talking about how Google was coming out with Google nose, and how we'd be able to smell our computers and stuff.

He actually believed it.
