SPOOKY THING basics
The most important step in anything dealing is identify (item/person/noise/portal) and research. It’s a step often skipped over because in our enthusiasm to label everything as basement goblins we forget that the furnace hasn’t been checked in the last 12 years.
Look, I’m not saying you’re going to know right off the back what a thing is. That’s why we have Google.
This is what I do whenever I encounter something new in the physical plane that I can’t figure out.
Make a list of everything I do know about situation. Make it as simple and unbiased as possible.
Google list items to see if there’s a common mundane reasoning.
Narrow down possibilities.
Research further into narrowed down items.
Consult someone else who has personal experience in solving those types of problems. I.e. Basement noises and cold spots = asking a heating and air conditioning person to come over and check. If they find nothing they generally will give you an idea on what else it could be. Mold, water damage, cracks in the foundation.
Jumping to the conclusion that there’s a demon after you might be the most delightful and scandalous answer but it should be the last answer you go to. Not because demons don’t happen, but because demons got better things to do then lurk in a damp basement.
Often what I find is that a person, in their fear of the unknown and anxiety over paranormalness, will push their own energy into subconsciously doing the thing. Poltergeists are actually pretty rare but most people have seen the movie AND most people are capable of some form of magic. If you are constantly thinking that there’s gonna be spooky rattles than it’s more likely to happen now that you’re putting energy into it.
The more you feed negative energy into one specific thought the stronger the spoopy is gonna be.
That’s why a simple cleansing can be so effective, you’re not removing evil you’re removing your own fears from the situation.
And after you’ve gone through and eliminated all options of it being a mundane problem, done a cleanse and energy scrub of the area, and are without a doubt convinced it’s something paranormal harassing you then I recommend referring back to your original list and starting over your google search but with the intent on ghost-busting.
Some things to consider with the spooky:
Is it harassing you or is it simply living it’s life?
Is it active energy or is it just the house reliving memories?
Are you in danger or can offering it a grape soda and some house rules bring peace?
Can you kick it to the curb by calling a priest?
Are you living next to a river, by a active road, with power-lines close by? Energy blocks and walls could get rid of a large chunk of the problem.
Did you buy a super creepy old doll that might be using real children's hair for it’s wig?
Have you recently gone out and stomped/jumped roped on top of some grassy hills and/or tree stumps?
You get a used mirror and haven’t cleansed, purified, and de-enchanted it yet?
There are many different types of creatures in this world, all with their own rules of life and existence. Depending on your findings and how YOU ‘craft will be how you determine the best way to solve a problem.
Remember, always start out polite when facing new situations. It keeps everything from escalating beyond control (usually) and will give you a good base line to start the process of learning what the heck is going on.
Not everything requires being salted and burned. Consider all sides to the situation before doing anything rash. Does the thing have to be kicked out from under the stairs in your new home or can you two learn to cohabitant peacefully? Is the houses memories really that big of a problem or can you just turn the radio up? Will an apology and a glass of milk sooth the local garden fae population? Will putting the haunted painting up in the living room and talking to it while you watch movies together make it stop breaking shit out the garage where it had been stored? Can a energy scrub and new wards keep the negativity out?
On a final note: Curses are a pain. Both to weave and to stick onto someone. Before assuming that you’ve been cursed, consider why someone might want to do the thing. If you’re just living your life quietly it is pretty rare that a stranger is gonna pop up and waste the effort to curse your fridge to always spoil the milk. If you’re stealing the neighbors cable or breaking windows at night though THEN you should be concerned about curses. Even then though, most people are gonna smack hexes around before doing a hard curse - and hexes (while a pain) are short term.
If you feel like someone has cursed you, talk to them. Communication goes a long way to solving hurt feelings.
Or rub yourself down with reflection oil and let the curse get returned to sender.
Regardless the point of this long post was to give you guys a starting point when it comes to figuring out what the spoopy thing is. Good luck and happy Googling friends.
