Please, Help A Pup!
I’m normally not one to talk much on tumblr, let alone make new posts but this is important. A friend of mine was recently gifted a German Shepherd mix puppy for her birthday to help her deal with the depression and stress of the sudden death of her cat CJ along with all the other stuff she’s had to go through (house flooding, being displaced because of flooding and then being hospitalized for a week).
Caspian, or Casp for short, is an adorable, sweet and chill ball of fluff. My friend had to fight to bring him home - her grandfather wasn’t very happy with her getting another animal after the house had just been gutted and cleaned. She and a few family members managed to convince him and he caved. Caspian was home at last!
In preparation of getting such a mischievous pup, she went above and beyond to puppy proof her home. Child-proof locks on things shouldn’t get into and plans were put into place to fix a hole in her fence in the backyard.
In fact, it was within the first few precious hours that she left him home alone to buy materials to fix said fence that he bit into more than he could chew. He broke through one of those locks, found a bottle of Drain-o, bit it open and got it all over his nose, lower half of his body and front paws.
This resulted in severe third degree burns. They’ve had to remove fur and skin, tightly bandage him up and he’ll end up having to visit the vet everyday for several weeks for fresh bandages and creams to soothe those burns. He’s also been put on various medications to help the pain and to fend off infections.
The vet is actually stepping up and helping as much as they can. They waived their fee for this first emergency visit and donated several medications to get them through to her payday but she needs a bit more help to get them both through this.
I’m a firm believer in the kindness of strangers, especially when it comes to saving a dog just barely 8 weeks into his existence. She’s doing all she can to get him through this and sharing their story is the best thing that I can do.
