Spork Iโm on a persona 5 royal bender lately and wanna play other persona games but Iโve heard a lot of people say to skip 1 and 2โฆ. I notice youโre into persona 2 so what do you like/recommend about it
YES I WOULD RECOMMEND PERSONA 2!! not only would i recommend it but Eternal Punishment is one of my favourite games ever made!!

I haven't finished playing persona 1 myself but I do like what I have played of it and like any game I would say it's worth giving a shot( persona 2 is also a much more direct sequel to it than modern persona games are two each other. with many reoccurring characters and direct follow up events) The Persona 2 Duology is a really unique experience and when i say there won't ever be a game like it again i mean it(hell the game barely managed to exist as is!). Unlike modern persona there aren't any social links or a calender system but It has an incredibly rich story with fascinating characters and two protagonists with ACTUAL backstories and families. I don't wanna get too into it because of spoilers but Persona 2 is a lot about childhood, trauma, growing up, and how facism creeps into society by feeding on people's fears. It's also a lot about duality, child adult, crime punishment, etc. The first game has a mixed age cast of primarily teenagers and the Second has exclusively adults(and an 18 year old). And the way the games are able to compare and contrast these casts and their perspectives is CUTTING. It's an insanely resonate game that i think any young adult should play. Incredible characters, incredible soundtrack, good gameplay(for eternal punishment anyways the combat in innocent sin psp is kinda boring). I can't recommend them enough really My guide on versions of these games to play under the cut because I'm addicted to being thorough
Alright so the first three person games are all available on psp which is super convenient because you only have to download one emulator! Which also happens to be one of the best emulators I've ever used PPSSPP !! It rocks and for accessibility it's also available on android so you can play on the go! There is some issues though... namely that persona 1 psp has some serious issues and eternal 2 punishment psp(which also has some great exclusive content) never got localized... But the internet has solutions! There are a lot of mods for Persona One but the ones I used lower the encounter rate, remove the english dub, and fix the removed OST. Trying to mod the game yourself can be kind of a headache and I got a bit frustrated getting them all to play nice so if you don't want to do that yourself there is a premodded version here! Now for persona 2. It's pretty easy to find roms on the internet and patches too but its gotten a lot sketchier since CDROMance went down. But the thing is CDROMance didn't stay down, it just moved to an account only site for security. retrogametalk is awesome and super easy to sign up for so I'd highly recommend making an account. From there I downloaded the undubbed PSP version of Persona 2 Innocent Sin and then the English patched version of Persona 2 Eternal Punishment From there it's pretty easy to play the games just unzip your file then launch ppspp go to file -> load -> click on the unzipped file -> click the disk image file. and your game should load up. For playing order it's pretty simple Persona 1 -> Persona 2 Innocent Sin -> Persona 2 Eternal punishment. Worth noting though that Persona 1 is basically two games having two very different routes and Eternal Punishment also has two routes with exclusive content.
