–– HUNNY.
the late hours of an early but tiring night, the bass of heavy drum songs against her heart; today it was ONE OF THOSE DAYS for her. She had decided to just leave everything behind her, the stressful week she had, having moved to a completely foreign city–– trying to cope on her own. NOT TODAY. Today she let the flashing lights numb her, cigarette ash like snowflakes on the sleeve of her dress as she stood outside, the cold night sobering her up, but only enough to REMIND her of ordering more to drink. Dany felt a soft shiver, as her head looked up to faded, distant stars that never had seemed so far away like now. The lights of this giant city made them look so weak, that for some unknown reason it made Dany sad. She suddenly realised, she felt so LOST, on her own, trying to compensate the loneliness that had driven her to a night out. She put her cigarette out and went back inside, keeping her curious gaze to herself, maybe letting her eyes wander over the dance floor one, or even two times before she decided to go straight to the bar.
Time seemed to pass far too quickly that when Dany stood up and started walking towards the dance floor, she felt her senses loose control, stumbling while the room around her danced in blurry frames between flickering lights blinding her in between. She felt NUMB– and she couldn’t decide if that was a good or a bad thing. Dany’s thoughts started to run in circles with no clear path as she passed through the dance floor, for a moment the music caught her– a melody so familiar, a song that she had forgotten for so long and ALMOST, ALMOST remembered as she let the rhythm take over her body, moving in soft motion and yet letting the song spill out her passionate soul. What was she even doing here? She felt so goddamn lost. Before Dany could realise, she stumbled over her own feet while happily dancing her heart out, as the floor got more crowded, not noticing that she had lost her balance for a split second, making her tumble into the poor soul in front of her with chaotic force, trying to hold onto something. With eyes wide open, out of shock, eyebrows furrowed in an apologetic way, she somehow tried to mouth the words I am so sorry, without even looking at whoever she had just crashed into, only noticing that the person was exceptionally taller than her, before the her sight got blurry, the vibrating music muted her own voice.
Her cheeks burned in embarrassment. She had to get out of here. Her head lowered, avoiding any looks, any eye contact she somehow made her way to a quieter area in the back of the club, extremely unstable and without any balance at all. She drunkly tried to lean against the wall, almost falling while fumbling to get the high heeled shoes from her feet. With a heavy sigh she crashed onto the stairs, head resting against the cold wall. Dany lazily took her phone out to check the time, for no reason at all until she noticed that she had absolutely no idea how to make it home. 3 AM. She cursed to herself under her breath, this had all been her fault, WHY couldn’t she have just stopped drinking? It seemed like the whole room was spinning out of control––a mix of neon signs and distant muffled voices talking in dark corners, overwhelmed from what felt like a sensory overload. She finally closed her sleepy eyes, head low.
