Omg I’ve been waiting for so long for someone to ask me this!!!

Stoker (2013) - Park Chan Wook’s American debut film and you’ve probably seen countless of gifsets on Tumblr. It’s definitely a film to start off if you’re getting introduced to his filmography because it’s not as intense as his Korean films and he toned it down by a lot in terms of fucked up shit but still definitely worth watching because it’s beautiful. Also, Mia Wasikowska is fantastic in this.

Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (2005) - Oldboy is actually in a trilogy called the Vengeance trilogy, which composes of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002), Oldboy (2003) and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (2005). The storylines aren’t related in any way except for the themes of revenge, violence and redemption. Sympathy for Lady Vengeance is stunning, less violent than Oldboy but psychologically more interesting. Choi Min Sik, the actor who plays Oh Dae Su in Oldboy, is also in this film, as well as several other minor actors (the hypnotist, the bodyguard, the private prison owner from Oldboy are all in this film). Also, the main character is amazing tbh. Fucked up but probably not as Oldboy fucked up.

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) - The first in the Vengeance trilogy. I haven’t watched this in a long while so I’m a little short on the details but I remember it being really amazing and stunned me. Also, has Doona Bae from Sense8 as one of the prominent characters!!! Also stars Song Kangho, who’s honestly one of the best Korean actors out there + another recurring main actor in PCW’s films. 

J.S.A: Joint Security Area (2000) - The first big film that got Park Chan Wook famous in the Korean cinema industry. It’s definitely not fucked up and instead, it’s more sad, exploring the tensions between South and North Korea. It’s a lot more subtle and deals more with emotions than anything. Also a story about friendship lol. Stars Song Kang Ho and the main character from Lady Vengeance, Lee Young Ae. Also, Lee Byung Hun, who’s a seriously prominent actor in the Korean cinema industry, so definitely worth a watch for the actors as well. 

Thirst (2009) - (!!!!!) I’m reluctant to put this on here because people either love it or dislike it. This is probably Park Chan Wook’s most fucked up, kinkiest film ever but I LOVED it SO much. From start to finish, it was an incredible experience and I was really crazy about this film for a long while after watching it. It’s about vampires! Religion! Blood! Morality! Sinning! It’ll make you uncomfortable and shocked. It’s got religion, blood, sex all mixed into one film. It’s a little longer than his other films as well (although the Handmaiden was longer by around 10 minutes). I think it’s definitely worth a watch but I’m incredibly biased lmao. Also stars Song Kang Ho as the main character and he does a FANTASTIC job in this film.

I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK (2006) - Park Chan Wook’s lesser known film but I haven’t watched it yet so I can’t really sell it to you. I do know that it’s not entirely dark and intense, as it’s a romance, drama and comedy film. It’s received pretty positive reviews but it definitely didn’t gain as much attention and sales as J.S.A, Oldboy and Lady Vengeance.

__1.__What is your idea of perfect happiness?  Everyone I love is healthy and happy. I live somewhere I can understand the changing of the seasons and my home is safe haven for everyone who needs it. A life filled of warmth.

__2.__What is your greatest fear? My most beloved people being harmed in any way and me unable to help them.

__3.__What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? How stubborn I am concerning my impression of people. It takes me a long time to accept I’ve made a wrong assessment of character.

__4.__What is the trait you most deplore in others?  Cruelty of any sort. I just can’t justify it to myself.

__5.__Which living person do you most admire? My parents.

__6.__What is your greatest extravagance? Food-related experiences. Pricey restaurants and unique ingredients for my cooking will be the death of me ( and my wallet).

__7.__What is your current state of mind? Tired ( that is a state of mind, isn’t it?) but vaguely hopeful.

__8.__What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Beauty, and I desperately want to apply this way of thinking in my every day life.

__9.__On what occasion do you lie? When a white lie will make someone feel better, usually. But I also lie for fun some times, with people I won’t meet again and about subjects of no great importance.

__10.__What do you most dislike about your appearance? Too many things to list here without turning this into a pity party.

__11.__Which living person do you most despise? Those who take advantage of other’s poor conditions.

__15.__What or who is the greatest love of your life? I’m still searching for it. For the time being I love a great deal of things and can’t choose a particular one.

__16.__When and where were you happiest?  I’ve been blessed enough to have many moments of great joy. If I had to guess it was probably some time with my friends, one of those rare moments when you feel truly known and loved.

__17.__Which talent would you most like to have? The talent of charming orators or the grace of dancers.

__18.__If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? My tendency to procrastinate. Then I’d have a lot more time to change anything else that bothers me about myself!

__19.__What do you consider your greatest achievement? Surviving for 18t years!! Shout out to my heart for being the true mvp and not failing all those times it could have!

__20.__If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be? I’d like to be clover, or maybe a seagull.

__21.__Where would you most like to live? I’d like a nice, picturesque cottage in the country with its own garden ( for my roses and vegetables). If some of the rooms could be in a traditional greek style I’d be a happy bean.

__23.__What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? Ignoring everything positive in the world and moaning constantly about the bad.

__24.__What is your favorite occupation? So many of them sound charming to me! If I’m being a realist, I’d like anything I don’t find utterly detestable, as long as it provides me with a steady and cozy income, long summer vacation and free time for my hobbies and future family ( that I hope to have). If it gives me the opportunity to dress up on the daily, all the better!

__25.__What is your most marked characteristic? My “renaissance looks”. I don’t quite get but it’s been commented on by plenty of people so far.

__26.__What do you most value in your friends? Affection and emotional support, with the necessary amount of honesty.

__30.__Who are your heroes in real life? Can I say my parents once more?? They are my biggest role models.

__31.__What are your favorite names? Nausicaa for girls and Alexander or Konstantinos for boys.

__32.__What is it that you most dislike? Once again, rudeness and cruelty when it’s not needed.

__33.__What is your greatest regret? Harming my body so much in my early teenage years.

__34.__How would you like to die? Perfectly warm and cozy, in old age, knowing I did everything I wanted in my lifetime.

Exactly that. I’m all good good with people demonizing child molesters, because they certainly fucking deserve all the hatred you can muster. The words pedophile and child molester are used so interchangeably in the media that people who want to get help can’t because of the fear that produces.
