Digimon Appmon premiered at the same time that Yugioh ARC-V was still airing
Maybe they discuss their love of meat & how to kill people with spicy food. Maybe Matt teaches Takuya how to sing.

HUNTERS
I frankly haven’t watch much of this one but here’s my opinion anyway
Tagiru is a Pokémon trainer and he surpasses Mikey somehow despite Mikey’s being a Captain America style pinnacle of humanity. Hence his scores are higher than Mikey.
Leadership 11/10
Engagement 6/10
Ryouma gets mind controlled and his digimon turns out to be the big bad that shows poor decision making. I’m sure everyone else is fine. Also Astamon is cool for being a weird bear gangster.
SAVERS/DATA SQUAD
While he may be ‘boss’ to agumon but Marcus is not a leader. His teammates point him at things they need broken and he breaks them. He is a punchy boy who punches things and that’s okay.
Leadership
0/10
Engaging 5/10
Yoshi treats being a tamer/secret agent like a part time job but is ultimately pretty competent she is decent mentor but abuses her position to get snacks. Overall a good but slightly corrupt leader. Thomas is Byakuya Togami from danganronpa but less of a jerk. He may be a name dropping, arrogant weirdo but ultimately he has the qualifications to lead. Keenan is a child who talks like Tarzan. He’s not grade A leadership material (also falcomon and frigimon speak with typical grammar why does Keenan talk the way he does?) It goes without saying the actual leadership of DATS is fairly competent with the exceptions of Yushima wasting time acting mysterious and anyone trusting Kurata for even a second.

FRONTIER
Disclaimer: This is not my favourite season and not my favourite characters so I am going to be quite harsh. It does have a great theme song and abormon and petaldramon so it’s not all bad
Takuya is a guy that wears red and has goggles. He often tells his friends what to do as they go on an adventure. His friends learn the same lessons over and over until they become totally obsolete except as batteries for his and Koji’s digivolutions. Hooray.
Leadership 5/10
Engaging 2/10
Zoe would make a fine leader, she is well liked by the others and her personal issues are totally unrelated to the plot and are rooted in the fact that Japanese students hate Italy for some reason and bullied her. This is a non-issue when she meets friends in the digital world that don’t hate Italy. Koji has Matt’s tendency to disappear but lacks the qualities that make Matt likeable. Also he has Matt’s backstory but much worse and more convoluted. J.T. Is my favourite. He tries to bribe people to like him which is an interesting character flaw. He is hard to take seriously because of his antics but he is pragmatic and would at least be better the Koji and Tommy. Tommy is too young and also the most annoying of all the young characters in all of digimon. He does have a cool beast form though. Koichi is a cool guy I guess bonus points for being less edgey than Koji despite using the spirit of darkness. He frankly doesn’t get much character development so I have very little to say.
TAMERS
Takato isn’t much of a leader but then again neither are his friends. He takes the position by default more as a mediator between very different people than as a traditional leader. People go along with what he says not because he has authority but more because he gives reasonable compromises to tough situations.
Leadership 5/10
Engagement 9/10
Rika hates people and expects blind obedience from subordinates . She gets over these somewhat overtime but is ultimately still fairly antisocial. Henry lacks confidence and is often conflicted about his actions. You can’t lead other people if you have trouble making decisions for yourself. Kazu and Kenta are total losers 80% of the time and should not be followed by anyone. Susie is a too young. Ryo is a walking paradox in the fabric of reality and will not be further discussed.
Time for an elaborate unsolicited digimon post. How good of a leader is each goggle-head/protagonist according to my vague memories of each season of digimon. I will judge their leadership and whether their leadership makes their characters engaging. I will also consider whether other tamers from that season would have made a better leader. I will not be considering movies or spin-offs just the television seasons. Also no appmon.
ADVENTURE
Tai is kind of a bad leader throughout Adventure due to being inconsiderate and reckless but he does grow into the role over time. The thing he has going for him is that without him the group fell apart pretty quickly. Bad decisions like the skullgreymon and pyramid incidents show poor judgement but ultimately he does his best to keep the group together and on task. He also improves considerably as a leader in 02
Leadership 6/10
Engaging 9/10
As for his fellow digidestined
Sora would be an objectivitly better leader than Tai but her self loathing prevented her from standing up and taking the role. Joe is resourceful but overly cautious. With him in charge they never would have left the starting area and would have been in much less danger until Apoclymon destroyed the digital world and they all died anyway. Joe actually tried to be the leader at the start but no one listened to him. Mimi is charismatic and goal oriented but can be somewhat selfish, lazy and harsh. She could lead effectively but the others could grow to resent her. That was basically the plot of the shogungekomon episode. T.K and Kari were too young to effectively lead the others. Izzy is detail oriented and technically skilled and the most useful member of the team due to his computer skills but his inability to see the big picture and lack of people skills would be crippling as a leader. Matt is the worst choice for leader he cares deeply for other people and is sensitive to their needs and feelings but that sensitivity makes him touchy and volatile. That wouldn’t be so bad but his habit of leaving the group and going it alone when he gets upset makes him totally unsuitable for a leadership position. You can’t lead when you are alone.
