1. ariana grande is straight and cis. she does not represent our community and i would not even call her a remotely good ally, considering the fact that she used queerbaiting in a music video, used a man in a dress gag in a music video, and got cozy with raging homophobe and transphobe pierce morgan and tried to rehabilitate his image. she’s also refusing to listen to LGBT+ people’s criticism of her headlining Pride.

saying you’re against homophobia and penning a letter to the LGBT+ community =/= being a good ally

2. ariana grande has DEVOTED cishet fans who i’m sure will treat Pride as just another concert rather than an event raising awareness about LGBT+ oppression and celebrating LGBT+ people. this would be the case for a great deal of cishet fans of cishet musicians. we don’t need a bunch of cishet people who don’t give a fuck about us at best and are bigoted against us at worst invading OUR space.

it doesn’t help that her loyal fans tend to be fucking aggressive as shit and attack any marginalized person who dares call her out on her bullshit. oh and racism and blackface? yeah, that shit needs to go and has no place at Pride. there’s enough issues of racism within the LGBT+ community, we don’t need to bring it in from outside.

3. there are tons of LGBT+ musicians--ones who are already famous and ones who desperately deserve a big break. 

if you’re looking to bring in an already known, modern artist you have a ton to choose from:
