#Trifaction #CardGame #Progress #NeutralG - For those of you who don't know, i've begun mucking around and learning how to "code" to "produce" my very own 2d card game. After about a day and a half and a few hours at it, when I ran my game my first "card" showed up with a mana cost, title, description and border as well as a size, in a hand at the top. This is a small incrimental win for a literature undergrad who knew nothing of coding or producing a game just two short days ago! This is a dub! We'll take the small, incrimental wins when we can get them! Now to drag and drop an entire hand! Stay tuned for more progress! This is a long-term project with a long learning curve. I'm set to graduate in the next 2-3 years, so I'll probably be hacking away at this "Card game project" until then and see how far I can get, in the next, say, 1-3 years!

Now i know how to make a first person character movement for a 3d game including crouching and sprinting mechanics. Though i have to mention that i looked up my previous projects movement code when i felt stuck so yeah... Here's that.

At this point, I don't even feel bad for using programs NOT for their intended purposes. I will be abusing my skills to get what I want, even if it makes it more difficult, it will always make it more fun!

This is all to say that I need to figure out how to use blender more to make an enemy object to do more testing and programming in that regard and this was all a way to avoid having to do that right now. Mainly because something feels so unintuitive about using blender to make a thing.

Other little things was that I added the internal spell cast cooldown so that you can't just mash the cast spell button. Next, I'm probably going to actually finish the drawing cards/hands functionality which means I'll need to make one more card art. Then it'll just be populating the hand and various panels I had for those cards to show. After that, it's either a UI pass to try and make the UI show more important stuff (like card costs) and just generally not be kludged together ass.

I think the performance hit is coming from all the collision objects on screen, so maybe figuring out a way to disable some is the way to go. Welcome to hear any ideas if you have them!

Right now I just have it so if you press a button it'll try to figure out the UI component you're hovering over and read text if it has it. I was amazed at how easy Godot 4 made this to implement; it only took about a single afternoon!
