it's basically violent and dangerous misogyny + homophobia (and other things but those are the main ones) disguised as "just being lads" and highly accepted and encouraged in some circles
it's disgustingly widespread in the uk and roi (probably other places but this is what i have experience with) particularly in universities and colleges
"lads" can share and connect with other lads on sites like unilad and theladbible (major warning for sexism homophobia cissexism racism ableism basically everything lol but you can get a good idea of the kind of thing it involves)
some ok articles about it and the kinda things it causes. same warnings as above and also huge warning for rape/rape apology/sexual harrassment/asault
