Project in the works!
Forgive me for sounding like Nick Bottom in the 2015 Broadway Musical “Something Rotten!” when I say the phrase ‘God, I Hate Shakespeare!’
For my writing course, we are supposed to be starting work on a project we will present in pairs for the final meeting, in a sort of, WRT235 version of a world’s fair.
My partner and I Writing&Rhetoric majors with double majors in different topics. She studies English and I study History, who fits that criteria better than Shakespeare? Meh, not too many other options.
I am genuinely a fan of one of Shakespeare’s works: “The Taming of the Shrew”. the treatment of women in this play should be taken with a grain of salt, as it is in no way acceptable by modern standards, but, what about most of his other works? Every person has at least one they somewhat enjoy for the comedy or drama /from/ the time period.
How is it that the works of one many continue to plague storytelling? Theatre? Media? Rhetoric? How can one man accomplish the work of many creative minds and when will he finally go away?
The new obsession! #broadway #music #musical #somethingrotten #briandarcyjames #christianborle #shakespeare #godihateshakespeare #love
