The fact that queer narratives are so aggressively centered on romance and sexuality will never fail to disappoint me. Like, with the ever-popular coming out narrative, why is it always through a same-gender relationship that a character realizes they're queer? While it does happen, as far as I know that's not necessarily a common phenomenon among lesbian, gay, and mspec people. Never mind the identities that aren't about romance, whether it be related to gender or the asexual/aromantic spectrums. And if someone makes a queer story without centering queer romantic relationships, people don't even consider it queer! Like hello? What is wrong with you?
(I know what's wrong. It's amatonormativity)
