Mormoms in real life are usually really nasty people but New Vegas portrays them in a really good light and not even Caesar will openly say anything bad about them but the one character who will say anything bad is the insane drug addicted ncr terrorist Utah golfer Driver Nephi and he will straight up call the Mormom church a cult and while many may protest that he is a bad and evil character keep in mind that he will warn a female character to stay away from Cook Cook lest Cook Cook rape and eat them and while he takes no pleasure in talking to the player character he will nonetheless call them "friend." I think he's on to something.
i hadnt appreciated all this about nephi. thank you for the insight!
Misc. Fallout 4 Things I thought would interest you part I forget/???
There's an unmarked church right about where I'm standing on the map called Union's Hope Cathedral. Inside of the cathedral is a unique non-feral hostile ghoul named Father Gabe.
Until he sees or hears you, he will be leaning over a plate at the back of the church. When he does notice you, he will begin to attack you while simultaneously shouting for help, alerting a number of feral ghouls that ignore him and only attack you. He is one of four ghouls in Fallout 4 with hair, there's no notes that mention him, and there's no context available for who he is or what he's doing here.
All he has is his vestments, a double barrel shotgun, and a burnt book.
woah, thanks for sharing. my first instinct is to consider that this could be a lunar order church like the one in CoUQ who laundered qualtoth worship through christianity, the same way the order hijacked the mothman cult and spawned the children of atom as more approachable cover religions.
alternatively, a less insane person might assume this is a church where ghouls gathered after the war and continued their faith even as they went feral, presumably positioning ghoulification as a holy awakening, a natural conclusion which ultimately conflates qualtoth and the christian god
it's actually pretty interesting that they're apparently catholic? imagine a church congregation where everyone is slowly, visibly becoming a shambling corpse and acting like it's a good thing. hell yes. reminds me of the story must be told
Once you pick up the book, Marcella will be found dead in her tent even if you take it straight to Obadiah. You can question him about her death - but he'll deny any involvement unless pressed, when he'll hint he 'arranged' it. He shows no remorse, and instead insists there's now no reason to hold onto the book.
big larry can you go punch yonder interloping christian down the bay so hard she dies please. splendid, thank you
i think this is my favorite place in fallout

John Cassidy makes a reference to the "good book" and mentions that he did not know that the Garden of Eden came in a kit.[13]
