The implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals has started worldwide.

Basically, “Reduced Inequalities” is the 10th goal of the Sustainable Development Goals. It is all about reducing income inequalities within and among countries. It is well known that income inequality escalates on every country from time to time. According to the Sustainable Development Goals Fund, the richest 10 percent earns up to 40 percent of total global income while the poorest 10 percent earn only between 2 and 7 percent of total global income.

We all know that the Philippines is suffering from poverty with main causes such as low to moderate economic growth for the past 40 years, high levels of population growth, high and persistent levels of inequality for both incomes and assets which reduces the positive impacts of economic expansion, and many more. These reasons are a call for action that requires adoption and implementation of policies to empower the bottom percentile of our country’s income earners and to promote economic inclusion of all regardless of sex, race or ethnicity.
