After years of faint signals, it was gone. It had suddenly disappeared seemingly out of no where.
She wasn't the only one who had noticed it's disappearance, the colony as a whole felt it's lack and suddenly went silent. Even the youngest of their group felt the need to go still.
She swallowed hard as her colors dimmed, her once bright yellow dulled as she flickered out of sight and reappeared in the depths of their ship.
It had finally happened, he was gone. He was still young, barely an adult, he would of just been making the transition into a higher connection. He would of been able to reset their connection, if he was close enough he could of found his own way home.
And now he would never return to them, to her. No longer would she be able to dream of holding him once again, of washing away that fear and loneliness that drifted from him.
Never would she have the pleasure of reintroducing him to the rest of the colony, she wouldn't be able to tell the younglings of their farthest traveling member. He wouldn't be able to speak of his time away nor would she learn who it just was that made him so happy and who it just was that made him cower in fear.
All of that was now gone, and they knew nothing of his last moments. There was no last rites passed to him, no way of collecting him to add him to their Great Stream. There was nothing.
It tore at her heart, as she cried out in both anger and sadness. If only she had been more watchful of him that day, if only she could of chased down his kidnapper and ripped him into shreds. If only she knew where he was at, all of this would have never happened. They would of been back together, she would have him in her arms laughing and talking until he fell asleep.
He was her Little Swirling Aura, and now he had faded.
