Average Annual Hours Worked for selected countries.
The chart shows that the average worker in wealthy countries now works only about half as many hours per year as in the late 19th century.
Based on data from economic historians Michael Huberman and Chris Minns, the average worker used to work between 2,700 and 3,500 hours per year, which is about 50 to 70 hours each week.
If you're out there worldbuilding a planet from scratch, you'll have to design your atmosphere eventually. Here's a handy reference for Oxygen-Nitrogen compositions humans can breathe and what happens if you step outside the "breathable" zone.
The design of your atmosphere impacts which altitudes of your planet will be accessible to your characters without a breathing apparatus. For example, keeping oxygen constant at 21% but going for a denser, heavier atmosphere will turn lowlands into "pits of death" too toxic to live in; a lighter atmosphere will drive your humans into caves as they struggle to breathe on the surface.
If you haven't seen Artifexian's video on designing Earth-like atmospheres I strongly recommend you go and watch it.
Source: This graph is the metric version of the graph shown at 3:49 because I never learnt using imperial units and am sick and tired of constantly converting. I plotted it myself though. Annotations are mine too, lest someone blame Edgar for them.
