In 2016 everyone knows that bigger is better. As a society we have begun to demand more out of everything and we expect everything that we do to be quick and easy because time has become our biggest commodity. In the top picture I wanted to show how this behavior has effected the physical size of the population. Americans consume more empty calories than any other nation on the planet, which has lead us to become the 12th most obese nation with 35% of the population being obese. These processed foods are inexpensive and oh so delicious which means the consumer gets more for their dollar and their wallet can stay just as plump as they are.Β
In the bottom right photo I wanted to show how in our quest to become more time efficient, we have created very specific tools that we buy for a single function when we could just buy one knife which has the same ability as all of the other tools combined. I see this as being wasteful. Why would you spend money a special tool that cuts your corn off the cob, when you could just as easily use a knife?
Bed Bath & Beyond has adapted to our crazy consuming habits by creating ridiculously huge bags to fit all of our unneeded items into.Β
