Thomas had done a lot of thinking since the night before. Heâd escaped with his life, barely --- although he understood Albyâs unhappiness, the guy had more of a temper than heâd first thought, and it made Thomas uneasy --- and that likely only been thanks to Newt, but that was the thing. The thing that had been plaguing his mind, more so than any threat Alby presented, was the mental image of Newt with glowing golden eyes, sharp fangs bared at Alby, an ALPHA, in an attempt to protect him. He couldnât get it out of his head. Not just because he didnât want anyone risking their lives for him, although that was part of it, but also because up until last night, heâd thought that Newt was human.
Apparently, heâd been wrong. He wasnât sure if he hadnât been paying enough attention, or if Newt was just really good at hiding his true nature, but either way, Thomas had been shocked. And now, thanks to Alby, both of their true identities had been revealed --- Thomasâs as a hunter, and Newtâs as a werewolf.
That wasnât the part that bugged Thomas though, not really. His mother had taught him better than to think all werewolves were threats, and Newt had never caused any trouble; he had no reason in the world to think of Newt as a danger to him or anyone else. In fact, Thomas had grown to like him. A lot. But Newt, apparently, had different ideas, because heâd been AVOIDING Thomas ever since. Thomas had been trying to talk to him all day, but somehow Newt always managed to find a way to dodge him, and he didnât understand why. Theyâd developed a friendship, or so Thomas had assumed, and everything had seemed fine --- MORE than fine, theyâd been great, actually --- until Alby had told Newt who Thomas really was.
âWhat the hell, man? You know who you just protected, right? Heâs a hunter.â
The whole world had seemed to crumble under that statement, but Thomas was determined to try and fix it. Now if only Newt would just talk to him.
âNewt!â Thomas called out, finally managing to corner him. âNewt, hey, câmon. Youâve been avoiding me since last night, we need to talk.â
